In May this year I found this Breitling datora Ref. 785 in a poor condition on Ebay.

As I was looking for such a long time for this special watch, I decided to bid on it, although, I knew that it could or would be a costly project.
When the watch arrived, I recognized, that beside the obvious optical deficiencies, some date setting functions didn’t work.
So, the project started and I was looking for the right watchmaker.
Here in the Forum (thanks Fred!) I learned that there is a Forum member who is a specialist in repairing and refining old Breitlings. The one and only Craig Bergsma! Surprisingly, I knew Craig, as I bought two years ago a beautiful 769 from him on ebay. So, I contacted him and we agreed that I take care for the dial refinishing, which I decided to be done at Causemann in Germany, and he take care of everything else.
Unfortunately we had some problems with the reprinting of the month and day wheels. The position of the prints weren’t correct.

So I contacted Causemann and they asked me to send back the dial including the movement. After correction work, what took longer than expected, the result was acceptable.
I sent the parts back to Craig and he presented me the great results approximately one week later!

Thanks Craig for your great work!

Causemann had a hell of Problems to get it right, but finally the result is acceptable. There is still a slight misplacement in some positions, but I can live with it. Causemann and I learned the lesson, that it is better to leave the date wheels untouched.
Thanks Fred for all your Support!

Looks great congrats, thanks for restoring one of my favourite references:). The reprinting work us very nice and you can't go wrong with Craig, I do remember that watch from Ebay.
