Hello peoples,

I am a new member here and I joined specifically to ask about the Navitimer 01 46mm. I've always liked the Navitimer but wanted one with an in house movement and in a bigger size to fit my 8 inch wrist. Now that this watch exists, I want one...BAD!. I tried one on at a local AD a couple of days ago and I was impressed by the quality and size. I've owned many watches before including 14 Omegas and 1 Breitling(colt Quartz ii) as well as a couple of Rolexes and many other high end Japanese watches and was planning on a new Omega but this Navitimer is too beautiful to pass up. To the 46mm 01 owners out there, is it comfortable to wear all day?. Any dislikes?. I would appreciate any input from people who have one. I would also appreciate it if anyone can give me info on where I can get a good discount on a new one from an AD.

It would help if you tell people where in the world you are, much easier to recommend ADs then! There are sponsor ADs in the UK (Banks Lyon and Andrew Michaels) and US (Govberg) who come highly recommended.

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

Thanks. I am in Houston, Texas. I already contacted Govberg. I was just wondering if there are any other ADs who might offer a better discount.

It's a brand new model, so AD's that can discount will do what they can, but I'll say Govberg is a great AD.

IMO Navi 01 46mm is the best Navi variant so far. In-house movement, Black date wheel and transparent caseback. It has all the features I want. It is comfortable to wear all day because nothing beats Breitling's pilot bracelet. Dislikes? Yes there are, but it is pertaining to Navi series in general and not specifically Navi 01 46mm. My greatest complain is the crown. Winding the watch is a total pain as the crown is rather small and flat and is very hard to grip. But well, I know they want to maintain the classic look of the watch. Every design of the watch was faithfully retained. From the looks you know that they want to keep the design as safe and less polarizing as possible. Another dislike is of course the poor water resistance, but that's an old story and nothing can be done about it.

I love all my 3 babies but my Navi is getting the least wrist time even though it's my most recent purchase. Recently I wore it to gym and accidentally knocked it against the handle of a machine. The handle was round and there wasn't any sharp edges, the knock was rather light but it caused a very small scratch in the form of a small dot on the sapphire crystal. I knocked my chronomat my often and harder but so far the sapphire crystal is still perfect. I understand that the sapphire crystal on both are the same so I was just plain unlucky on the Navi. But generally I am always more careful when I wear my Navi as compared to my other 2. I don't wash the watch as what I do for my other 2 even though it should be fine but I don't wanna take risks for that water resistance. I had to spend longer time to clean the watch and exercise more caution when cleaning because the polished surfaces are more prone to scratches and the stains are harder to clean. I am always more worried about knocking my watch accidentally because it is more vulnerable in many aspects. Overall it's a very nice watch but usage wise I am generally more comfortable with my other 2 as Navi is a more refined than a tough daily watch to me.

One very small downside, but not a dislike, is that because navi looks more refined, it doesn't really match all outfits IMO. I wore it to gym recently and thought it didn't really match that well with sporty outfits. It has a very technical and refined look. So it tends to look more niche and lacks that sporty appeal. Therefore I don't personally categorize it as an all rounded watch and especially when it's out of bounds in water. As mentioned it's not really a dislike or issue to me. But it's one of the reasons why it's not my grail.

Having said the above I have absolutely no regrets on my purchase. It's a legend that you cannot miss out in your collection. Go for it!

I picked up my Navi 46mm about a month ago. I have it on a croc strap with the deployant buckle. I am in Canada so it took a while to get one but it finally arrived and I am very happy. I don't wear it everyday but I find it to be very comfortable, not heavy at all. The Navitimer was a watch I always wanted to add to my collection, and when the 46mm came out, I decided it was time. I like the caseback and the 5 year warranty is an added bonus. Good luck in the hunt, that is half the fun at least.

I have one since july, and wore it practically every day ( I don't wear it when I go to do sport ). It's on a black leather strap with deployant. Very comfortable, especially with the deployant. It's still looking like new, not a scratch except for the deployant. I like my Navi a lot, and in fact, get positive responses from people from time to time.
I think it's also very comfortable, even though it's a big and rather thick watch.
Good luck with your hunt!

Thank you for all the responses. The water resistance is not that great but it will be worn carefully. I can see your point about the crown but I'm glad they did not make it bigger. I sold many watches because of a big crown that dug into the top of my hand and made the watch uncomfortable. I also like it for pretty much the same reasons you stated but the fact I'm wearing a Navitimer with an in house Breitling movement makes this watch a must have for me. Growing up, before I got into watches, I knew only 2 watches, Rolex and that pilot watch which I later found out is the Navitimer. I will be definitely be getting this watch very soon. Forgot to ask, does the lume last in the dark?.

Hi, all -- Newbie here. Just purchased the Navitimer 46mm with the smooth black strap.

I've had the Navitimer for only two days, so everything is still new. But so far, I love everything about it. The elegance and refinement coupled with the classic design is what appealed to me. On the 46mm size, my previous, non-Breitling watch was 45mm, so the 46mm didn't seem oversized as much as the 43mm Navitimer seemed a little too small for me.

One of the joys of my research and purchase was that I involved my 14-year-old son, and I told him that he'd likely be inheriting the watch. Our children's world is much more disposable than when I grew up. There's obviously massive value to constant innovation across technologies, but the downside to an economy that generates a new iPhone every year is that this generation has become used to the constant turnover.

The Navitimer stands in contrast to that. I showed my son websites selling 20-, 30- and 40-year old Breitlings for thousands of dollars. The idea that he would inherit a watch decades from now (hopefully!) that would then still have value and also be cool was practically a revelation to him.

Anyway, I can't wait to go to work Monday with my Navitimer.

I'm glad you're enjoying your Navitimer 01 46mm. From everything I've read, it seems like everyone that bought one really likes it. I like you, love the history, elegance and quality of the piece. I also love the fact that it has the 01 movement which has 346 parts(very serious movement) and a 72 hour power reserve!. I tried it on at an AD yesterday just to make sure before I buy it and it confirmed my decision...this watch is beautiful!. I also love how the crown is a good distance above the wrist which means it won't rub the top of your hand like many other watches I've owned. I think it looks good on my wrist as you can see in the pic. I can't wait to buy mine in a couple of weeks :-)

I do not own one, but I love the fact they made the 46mm. And the display back is really beautiful.

Me too. I have an 8 inch wrist and the 43mm looked small on me. I feel like the 46mm really shows off the dial real nice as there is too much going on in the dial. When I used to own the Omega PO, I picked the 42 over the 45 although it looked small on me because there is nothing to the watch and I felt like the 45mm was too stretched out since it was a basic 3 hand watch..kind of like a Panerai and I don't like those. With the Navitimer, the 46mm fits perfectly because the dial has too much going on and it can definitely take advantage of the extra space. It also makes a statement on the wrist.

Other than the fact that I can admire the beautiful movement through the case back, another reason I like the transparent case back over the metal case back is the area that sits on your wrist is wider and therefore the weight is more evenly distributed. As you can you see in the pic, on the metal case back, the part that sits on your wrist is much smaller than the transparent version which according to my experience, can create a pressure point on the wrist and make it feel heavy. On the transparent case back, the part that sits on your wrist is much wider so the weight is much better distributed.

I've read some mention that the price for the in house Navitimer has gone too high but instead of comparing it's price to other Breitlings, you should compare it to in house chronographs the competition offers and you will see that the Navitimer 01 is a real good deal. The Jaeger 758 movement found in the deep sea chronograph has 340 parts, the Rolex Daytona has 290 parts, the Zenith El Primero has 330 parts and the Breitlings 01 has 346 parts so imo the 01 puts Breitling in the big leagues now!. Not to mention, it has a 72 hour power reserve!. To me, an in house movement is a big deal and the reason I don't mind spending big bucks on this watch. It makes the watch unique and when I look at the time, I'm looking at Breitling time! :-). Bottom line, I'm getting one soon :-).

I like the black dial with white subdials the best. It's the most classic and visually striking to me. That's the one I bought and it should be here Friday morning :-)
