Do you know what constitutes lifetime and satisfaction in Costco' meaning of the words?

Costco have been a grey market dealer for years, and threads here about it. Costco's replacement warranty is good in theory, but as a grey dealer they have no way of guaranteeing the ability to replace. Of course a repair warranty is worthless from a grey as they don't have access to parts.

Given that in house movements now come with a 5 year factory warranty and ADs are still prepared to work with buyers grey market dealers are not necessarily the deal that they appear to be on the face of it.

Costco would likely offer a money back/return based on my experience vs attempting to repair.

Agreed, which is fine as long as you are OK with 'losing' the watch in those circumstances - exchange may not be a feasible option.

I Agree.. I'm sure Costco would just give you money back - at this price I'm not sure how much due diligence they would exercise. I've walked into Costco returning/repairing stuff, some that was well beyond their return time and they just gave me my money back, things up to about $500. I didn't even try to convince them... once I just said this thing was broken and wanted to know if they knew how I could get it repaired.

It actually worries me because I feel like someone could buy a watch there and return it with a fake one in the box quite easily.. though I could be wrong. I'm sure someone has tried that at least once before.

So where does Costco (or Sam's, et al.) get their watches?

Where does any GM dealer get them, for that matter?

ADs who sell to maintain turnover.

I'm glad I read this thread. I had no idea they were gray market. I do know Costco and Sam's are really good about standing behind what they sell though. No worries there. Knowing they sell this way, is also look at the other gray market sellers though if it were me.

So.... What's happens to the returned watches that Costco cannot fix?

Offloaded to auction? Sent to a watch reseller who gets it serviced?
