Just sold a Navitimer and the buyer is complaining that when winding the watch over 40 turns, there is no resistance (it doesnt stop). I told him that its perfectly fine since the mainspring is not attached to the barrel, and it slips when fully wound. Can someone please confirm this as he is monitoring the post. Thanks in advance.

The buyer told me that he went to his local AD and was told that it could only be wound 40 times before it stops :)

you'd help us if you would confirm it is an automatic, "modern" Navitimer ?
in that case you are absolutely correct, these can be wound endlessly.

As Fred says, any automatic (from any brand) has a slip mechanism that Prevents overwinding and results in the crown being free to turn even when the watch is fully wound.
