Hi there

I own since 2.12.2014 a brandnew awesome black B-50 beside my older B-1.

Unfortunately I registered a fault out of the box: Even I lock the screen (by pressing 3 x the crown) the watch beeps from time to time and change the (still been) "locked" screen to another function. The display shows then one of the next functions "up- or downwards". I am a little disappointed about this for a watch in this price-segment (even I would not be happy when a Swatch have the same issue)..

Another issue is that the "hour"-hand is not exactely to 12 while all others are exactly to this. The B-1 shows that it's possible!

The third issue is that the dial-indices are not all exact alligned with the "second"-hand... but this is peanuts compared to the other issues.

Any other with same issues?

I guess im one of the few lucky who had no issues with the watch, and actually love it.
others have gone through painful experiences, but Breitling ended up fixing them.
recommend you talk to your dealer asap

Return it for repair. Good luck.

I have read elsewhere that Breitling have a service campaign on the B50 but I cannot validate this. I have also read a number of other complaints regarding this model. My take is to give it a wide birth until the issues are corrected. Not that I am in the market for one any time soon.

Hi all,

I'm UK based and have now received my b50 night mission. Stunning. I love my emergency but this makes it look a little like an antique!

Once you've looked off the crown ( three crown pushes) their should be no jumping of functions. Mine doesn't.

You can also select if/ how you want the watch to beep as you scroll through functions although IT sounds as if you know this an genuinely have a problem.

Mine has been great so far now that it finally got here!

I have exactly the same problems as you described. Where did you have it updated and how long did it take?

It tooks approx. 2 weeks and was easy because I am from Switzerland *smile*. If you bought it in a store I highly recommend to bring the watch back to them and they should solve it for you. I don't like to send expensive watches by ordinary Post-Mail.

Good luck to you and let me be informed if it could be solved also for your watch!

It's such as shame Breitling has let the B-50 be dogged with so many issues from the outset. I truly think it's a fantastic looking watch, and while high-end quartz isn't really my "thing", this would be my first and only choice if I was in the market for one.

But for Breitling's first "in-house" quartz to be released clearly without enough testing is unforgivable. It should've been tested and tested and tested, because the message it's currently sending is, "We make two type of high-end quartz pilot watches - one uses an ETA movement and is very reliable, while the other we had a bash at making ourselves but it's riddled with issues. Oh and it costs more too".

I'm sure it'll be a great piece once the issues are sorted out (and those of you with good ones, I say many congrats), but at the moment it's not a great advert unfortunately......

I just don't get it.
Functionally this watch is not that much different to what was readily available back in the 1970s.
Just a Quartz movement with some crown controls.
Today's smart watches run circles around the B-50 from a functional offering perspective.
How much is the B-50 stretching the technology comparing to the B-1 or the Aerospace?
It looks to me like the market introduction of the inhouse powered B-50 is a complete and utter failure.
I could understand if this was a cheap "Made in China" brand but Breitling???!!!

I had a bad week, so there...

it's truly shocking, B-50 failure rates seem awfully close to 100%, whoever can't get over himself how much he loves the watch when he finally has it, seems to come back to report issues; charging apparently to be the most prevalent before crowns FALLING OFF.

if u then look at the overall downturn in sales across the board (PP, Panerai & others LOWERING US prices despite the $/CHF ratio) and the apparent failure to ship reasonable quantities of the EII, times can't be too good for Breitling - and aren't people in Switzerland are telling me.

what a royal eff up.

The B50 is a great concept, but to echo others here much more texting should have been done. The people that have got stuck with a faulty piece I'm sure are PO'd, I know I would be! Breitling should do more for people that drop 10k on a watch than to just "fix" it. IMHO of course.
I would really love to own one down the road, but I will have to wait for the second hand market. I can't justify dropping that much coin on a quartz movement. For now I would pick up a B1, half the money and does the same thing. Doesn't have to be recharged either! I know the case shape and size is much different though, it would be great to try one on at some point.

There is big difference between a B1 and a B50. Also I don't know any Smart-Watch with a Swiss Chronometer-certificate, you do?

As an owner from a B1 I can guarantee that both watches makes happy. Of course early-adopters have the risk of some problems - in the meantime it's a new phenomenon that nearly all new products have some issues. TVs, cars, computers, hands... all are affected by some software-bugs. I own a Ventura Sparc MGS... you don't want to know how many problems I have (had) with this special masterpiece of modern Watch-Technology.

So I am happy with my B50 now and I like to wear this "dark beauty" and to use all the new functions!

I have been waiting for the Night Mission to come out/in for a long time now, I know some people have gotten it in the states but every time I ask it's unavailable. It must be very disappointing to wait such a long period of time for this watch, to have it fail almost immediately at the cost of 7k+. I was beyond excited when it was announced, and am beginning to change my mind completely.
