I decided to write this post because I've had a 3 out of 3 Breitling disappointment.

I bought a used Crosswind. After wearing the watch every day it stopped working on my arm after 8 hours. I had to get it overhauled.

I bought a Chronospace Ana-Digi. The gentleman I bought it from had it serviced by Breitling before I took ownership. A week later the Analogue dials stopped at 15h30. I had to get it repaired by Breitling.

I bought a brand new Chronospace from my AD (my Grail watch). 1 day after delivery I notice the Stopwatch resetting to 22min in place of 0. Breitling did an emergency repair for me but after 3 weeks of wearing my new watch it happened again. Today I had to insist on my AD replacing my watch with a new one. They agreed. I have to wait another 8 weeks.

If I think of my life of buying watched I can't remember ever having an issue with a watch other than replacing batteries. I still have a Pulsar I bought 30 years ago. The battery is flat and it is in my safe. I wore this cheap watch for 10 years and never had an issue. My kids have cheap 20 Dollar watches that work and never miss a beat.

I love everything I've seen about Breitling. They look robust and strong to me but so far each and every one had failed on me.

The Chrosswind is now running 100% and I sold the Ana-Digi Chronospace after I had it repaired.

Is it just me or is this normal ?? If this is normal I think I need to find a different passion.

Sounds as though you've just been unlucky. I've had five Breitlings and never had an issue of any kind. I had an Omega Planet Ocean that was faulty and had to be replaced, but other than that, I've not had any problems with any of my watches (Omegas, Breitlings and Rolexes).

That's really unfortunate. I'm not a fan of the Digital Analog watches. I have had a mechanical that I bought used worked great and my Colt was great too.. just sent it in for a new battery after Two years. Looking forward to my Chronomat GMT.. I hope my luck holds and its a good watch too.
Sorry for your troubles.

You have been very unlucky judging by the experiences you have had. On used watches there is always a risk, but on new there should be no risk ( or at least minimal risk).

See how your time with your remaining Breitlings go. Give it 6 months and let's see if your attitude changes with higher reliability. It's worth a trial period, as like many others here, you should not normally experience this level of faults, etc. I think the maker is worth a trial.

My Breitling is stamped 2008 between the lugs, I purchased it NOS in 2010. I wear it somewhat often, and every time I do, everything has been totally fine and accurate. Sorry for you troubles, but if most Breitlings really did suck and they were all bad, then this forum would be flooded with nothing but complaints... which it's not. Hang in there...

I suspect that reality is somewhere between this thread and this thread - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=55804

One of your watches needed servicing, they all do in time. This one needed attention from the outset and you were advised that and tried to shortcut the fix.

These are not perfect pieces, but they are not moulded solely by your experiences, good or bad.

Sorry to hear of your problems. I have owned six Breitlings, including a analog-digital piece, that was my first one. Other than normal cleaning and services as usual, I have had one adjustment problem, quickly fixed, on a nine-year old piece. They have been exemplary and in the case of my old Headwind and my Navitimer Fighters, dead even with my old Panerai as the most accurate watches I have owned (besting several Rolexes, an AP, Breguet, JLC, UN, IWC, Omega)

I've owned 17 Breitlings now. I had stripped crown on a Steelfish; an aerospace needed servicing to "fix" a dimming digital display and a couple of the vintage models didn't zero properly (again fixed to appropriate servicing). I'd say your experience (while really frustrating) is not representative.

Unfortunately the fakes are still running. The first Fake Tag I bought almost 10 years ago. They don't look as good but still going.

In fact. My Son is wearing the oldest one. How ironic is that.

Ling for me, all the way.

I have a had 40+ watches and had only 1 watch that I would consider still "new" with a problem that was completely covered under warranty, I had the watch for approx 30 days, I have had approx. 6 that needed service that were 7-8 years old. You were told by many people to send the watch back and have Breitling fix it correctly and you decided to try a quick fix. There is a reason they offer a warranty, things happen. I understand not wanting to send it back since it's a new watch but there is a quick turnaround for warranty work and you'll know it was done correctly the first time. I would not judge the brand based on your experience.

They love of watches is a passion and a emotional experience. I DO love Breitling as a brand. I love their design and what they stand for. I think I'm am over reacting because I am just mad that I've had to go through this experience. Breitling and my AD has agreed to replace the watch and I am hoping the new one that arrives is perfect. Reading all your experiences and time will restore my faith. I'm sure.

Sounds like you've been very unlucky, I'm on my second Breitling and love them! My 1st was a 2000 Colt which I sold to buy the 2008 Colt auto I have now.. love it and wear it daily.
