So Ive had my Steelfish for about three months. The other day I noticed it was running about 10 seconds slow (after one day of not wearing it). After reading some posts of Breitling owners having their Lings regulated at their AD, I decided to see if my local shop would do it. I walked in and was greeted by the owner and we started to discuss the slowness of the watch. He told me the would have to send it out to Breitling because they do not have the appropriate facility (dust-proof room, watchmaker, etc.). He then began to lecture me on the fact that if I wanted accuracy, I should look at a Quartz model. I KNOW that mechanical watches are going to deviate a little but it shouldnt be -10 seconds. Its frusterating that the same place that sold me the watch is explaining to me differences in mechanical and quartz watches, when in the first place, I specifically wanted to look at automatic Breitlings fully knowing the differences. I would think that most people who are looking for a nice watch would know a little about the product they are buying and not need a refresher course on their purchase.

SORRY FOR THE RANT, but I find it annoying when, even as a owner of something, one is treated like an idiot.

Maybe its just me...?

A Rolex repairer sorted mine out for me within 24 hours. Shame that the nearest Breitling Authorised Repairer AD couldn't...............

BTW, you don't say where you're from. Are you UK based by any chance?

Nope, I am state-side. Though there are only two dealers in the state. I am not that picky really, I just would have thought something could be done on the spot.

I completely agree, and it seems that quite a few guys on here manage to get theirs sorted at their local AD's without any bother at all. I knew my usual AD wouldn't do mine as they are only a retailer, not an approved repair centre. However, even the nearest Breitling Approved Repair Centre told me they'd have to send it back to Breitling! Daft. As I said on the other thread, if they can't regulate a watch (which is pretty simple) what they hell can they repair??

Either way, if your watch loses 10 seconds a day, your AD should be making all efforts towards getting it solved instead of lecturing you about the differences between mechanical and quartz watches.

It should be noted that not all ADs can do work on the watches. My AD happens to, but I think its one of the only ones (of like 10) near me that is authorized.

For once I consider myself lucky for living in Sweden - so far I haven't found an AD that can't regulate in his shop.

I understand why ADs are reluctant on some of the deep water rated pieces if they don't have the equipment, but I don't think there is any excuse for there not at least being some geographic coverage of ADs who have the ability to seal and test. Having a timer is a given these days which makes the regulating easy enough, and given that we are talking about a brand that stresses customer service I really do expect dealers to make the investment in the ability to replace gaskets, seal the watch and test it properly.

Exactly. And especially from an Approved Repairer listed on the Breitling website.
