Hello there!

I would like to buy my fiance a vintage Breitling as a wedding gift. He likes the small watch cases with the low profile from around the 1950's, in stainless steel with a light-colored face that is not too busy and a leather band (although I can get that separately if necessary). Authenticity is paramount so I'd love your help sourcing some watches from sellers you deem to be legit. My budget is around $2k (is that realistic?).

Thank you~

budget is about triple (or more) fair value for such a piece - but there is no seller I could point you to. browse chrono24.com and ebay, be patient and post any piece you like for verification here.

Hannah - this is a chronograph (buttons on the side to act as a stopwatch) and they tend to be thicker - maybe 10mm or so. In my book, that would not fit your requirement for a low profile. Others can chip in but I think most (all?) of the non-chronograph simpler vintage Breitlings are gold/gold plate? Are you set on Breitling brand?

I am going up to the Breitling flagship store after work to get a feel for the thickness and size of the various dimensions. The chronograph is probably on the thicker side for what I am looking for (he doesn't like it when a watch catches on his suit cuff), however I am really open to considering anything outside of the initial parameters if the integrity is there. But definitely I should steal clear of the big bulky styles since he is a string bean of a man and his wrist would be dwarfed by the big honkers.

I found a few more on Chrono 24. What do you think? (sorry, there are several)

I'm not expecting too much in the way of advice. A friend had mentioned they had a few vintage pieces on display but I'm more interested in seeing sizes in real life, even if only on modern watches, to get some context.

What are some of the seller countries that are red flags for fakes?

South America (Uruguay, Argentina) China, Singapore, but there are exceptions. Best to find what you like and post the pictures here for opinion. Even in " non red flag" countries people sell fakes, sometime without even knowing they are doing so.
