Always a fave of mine Fred. Still regret not buying that Mecanique I saw in Sydney... But oh well, got some other great watches with that money instead, and still love seeing yours :)

About ten years ago when I first started participating on Breitling forums the only available display back models were typically a few pre-owned 90's vintage pieces. When decent amateur photos of those watches began to appear more often on the various forum photo galleries the response from viewers could have been predicted in my opinion. Those responses often asked the question "Why doesn't Breitling market pieces with display backs anymore?". Who says Breitling marketing folks don't pay attention to our forums? After the arrival of the in-house B01 movement in 2009, Breitling did indeed begin to supplement their model lineup with display back versions, often "limited edition" of course but at least they were available. I choose to believe all of us on our varous Breitling forums had a positive influence on the manufacturer to begin producing the popular display back versions again. I know it's egotistical but IMO the pic below (January 14, 2008) was one of those positive influential factors contributing to that portion of the marketing decision...
Best,
Ron

I also love the Breitling display backs, having a Cosmo Serie Speciale as well as a Chrono Avenger 69:
