My new to me superocean will be delivered tomorrow. Am nervous and excited in equal measure. I've never seen a blue dial in the flesh and only tried one on briefly about 3 years ago. I hope I like it.

it is coming with a black pro3 strap as well as the bracelet which is how it will be worn 90 percent of the time.
any reassurance that it will be a great watch will be appreciated and I'll update this thread with my initial opinions tomorrow when it is unboxed and hopefully sitting proudly on my wrist.

Congrats! I think you'll really like this piece. I really like the blue on this dial, have seen one in the metal myself.
The polished bracelet will help make the dial "pop" (how's that for reassurance :D ).

Enjoy.

Absolutely the best incarnation of the SuperOcean I think - I have that fairly short-lived version in coral. Blue face on black strap doesn't work for me; bracelet will look much better.

The SO blue is very nice - it's not a flat colour and has an almost metallic shine to it. I reckon you'll love it.

This last version of the "classic" Superocean is the best IMO also. I have the black-faced version, and the build quality and heft on the wrist is superb. When I first unpacked it, I was grinning from ear to ear like the Cheshire cat. You won't be disappointed. It's my absolute favourite Breitling of all time, and mine is definitely a lifetime keeper! :lingsrock:

Hotmog - it was your pictures that made me want a late model SO. I think I still have them on my hard drive somewhere too!

I originally wanted either a black or coral dial but have struggled to find a mint one, I stupidly turned down a new old stock coral dial back in january. The blue one caught my eye but how the colour works with straps does worry me. If a black rubber pro3 doesnt work with it or if I feel it's too small (my other worry) then it will be going back to the shop tomorrow and I'll go to plan B.

The parcel has arrived at my house, so it will be a long afternoon until I can get home and open it up.

So... the watch has been returned. It was undoubtedly a beautiful watch in mint condition but I found it uncomfortale to wear on the rubber strap. Maybe it wears better on a bracelet but on the rubber, how I will wear it most of the time, it just flopped to one side of my wrist continually. This is probably to the domed case back on my flat wrist.

I think it is too heavy and top heavy for what is quite a small strap. Plus I thought the 20mm strap looked a little weedy for the watch head.

The blue dial was not as vibrant as the sellers photos suggested, looking black, grey or flat view depending on the angle. Then you would get a quick bright flash of blue across the dial as it caught the light. This did look srunning and I thought the blue dial worked fine with a black strap.

if the watch was not my one big purchase that I intend to keep long term I might have looked over its faws for me, but I am looking for one special keeper thwt I can pass down one day and unfortunately if I wasnt wowed or comfortable with ut on my wrist within an hour then it didnt bode well for keeping it long term.

so sadly it has been returned. If anyone wants to know where to I'll say as it is superb condition. So once the refund is through I'll srart looking again. An avenger gmt is the front runner at the moment, I love the look of the pro 3 rubber I had on the superocean so I'm hoping a wider 22mm version of that on a flatter cased watched will wear better for me.

thanks to everyone who posted on this thread, I still love the look of your watches but sadly it just doesnt wear right for me.
