Hi everyone,

Hope you're well. I'm quite interested in the forum's thoughts on these two Knightsbridge pieces. Do they look correct and what do you all think about their valuations?

Your thoughts are appreciated, thanks very much.

ref. 808 (no idea where that "D" they add to the ref. numbers comes from, same w/ the 769) looks good. price range realistic.
ref. 769 seems very nice - I have not seen these hands on an actual 18k 769 before, but they do look similar to hands we see on early advertisements and the 1940s catalog; valuation on the low side, watch is from the mid 1940s, not 1950s.

here comes the big "BUT" for these as for all other Knightsbridge listings - we see dial side pics only, no casebacks, no movements, so you might be in for nasty surprises ......

They use a letter system for the condition report, the D: standing for dial. Not very well layed out!!

CONDITION REPORT D: Original dial in excellent condition, showing some very small signs of age. M: Working at present. C: In excellent condition. S: New. D: Dial / M: Movement / C: Case / S: Strap / B: Bracelet

As per Fred, I usually go to these auctions as I don't live too far from where it is held. My two penneth is that there have been some real dogs go through that have been graded very optimistically. They don't show movement or caseback pics unless asked, they have some of the highest premiums at UK auctions-24%!!! So take that into account, saying all that I have done well there if you catch it right but ebay can be cheaper and with more protection if you get it wrong!!

Thank you to everyone, I appreciate the thoughts. The auctions are a great way to see things you otherwise might never have an opportunity to view, but it's an imperfect system to be sure. I've never dealt with Knightsbridge but I've requested pics of the casebacks and movements for both. If they respond I'll post 'em here.

Thank you again. Have a terrific evening.
