NOW SOLD - THANKS TO BS FOR HOSTING!

A non-WIS mate has asked if I can sell this for him - it's a convoluted story, but he's helped another buddy out of a financial jam by taking this off his hands, and he's hoping to recoup his outlay....

Rolex aren't normally my thing, so if I make any glaring mistakes in the details please let me know by PM.

Up for grabs is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air King Precision (Model 14000M). The 'M' ("Modified") means that this is the later Calibre 3130 version of the Air King (as opposed to the earlier 14000 which had the 3100 Calibre), and was originally purchased in 2004 (it's a 'K' Serial Number, so was probably manufactured in 2001 or 2002) .

It's an all-steel model, with a terrific black dial, steel 'stick' Hour and Minute hands, a steel needle Seconds hand, applied steel baton markers and an applied steel 'Rolex' crown above centre. The main hands have a luminous fill, which is still strong and bright (there are also luminous dot sections at the end of each marker, in equally good condition).

The watch is mounted on its original steel Oyster bracelet with a double foldover clasp, duly signed. It's currently sized for a 7.5" (190mm) wrist - and there's another 0.4" (10mm) or so, as there are two unused slots on the clasp.

The movement is the 31 Jewel Cal 3130 - I found some useful information about this upgraded movement here: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=2641

I'm happy to report that the watch is running beautifully - the sweeping movement is at about +4/+5 spd, timed over 36 hours. The reserve is strong (it ran for over 36 hours on a full wind).

The watch comes with its original complete set of Boxes and Papers: The original Green Rolex Oyster Outer Box; the Leather-covered Green wooden presentation box with inner display coil; Dealer-Stamped Rolex Warranty Certificate dated 22 March 2004; Original Rolex Hang Tag with Serial and Model numbers: Rolex 'Translation' booklet; the 'Your Rolex Oyster' booklet; Rolex leather Documents wallet; Rolex/Tudor polishing cloth (unused). All are in as-new condition, except the outer cardboard box, which has minor scuffing to the edges.

I'm told that the previous owner wore this on perhaps half a dozen occasions, and the watch has spent most of its life in safe storage - and condition reflects this. It's about as near mint as you can get - and considering it's a 10 year old watch, absolutely remarkable. I normally do a full 'condition report' if selling a used watch - however, with this one it's easier to describe what isn't absolutely pristine, so here goes:

I've been over this with a loupe - and all I can see are a few minimal tiny micro-scratches on the case sides, some on the bracelet clasp, and a few on the Oyster bracelet itself. Even these are negligible, the sort of inevitable minor marks that you'd pick up within a few hours of normal wear, and certainly no dinks, nicks or anything nasty. 5 minutes with a Cape Cod and a scratch pen would certainly address these hairlines, but I'm fairly certain this has never been polished, and I'm loath to be the first..

And that's it - it really is in exceptional condition. The dial, hands, fluted crown and sapphire crystal are all like new. Even the mirror-polished fixed bezel, which you would imagine would be a scratch magnet, is excellent - though is an absolute nightmare to photograph! The caseback still has the totally intact green hologram sticker on it, so is presumably mint underneath. If there are any other marks, I can't see them (and if there are any, they will be negligible at worst). The tiny hairlines on the case side are minimal - I'm probably being hyper-critical. As described above, the Oyster bracelet is terrific too, and again appears barely worn, no stretching at all. I've seen brand new AD models with more signs of handling than on this one.

Measurements: Width (without Crown): 34.2mm. (37.0mm with Crown). Thickness: 11.4mm. Lug-to-lug: 43.1mm. Lug Width 19mm. Weight 95 grams.

As mentioned, I'm selling this for a pal, and he's after £2020 (price includes Next Day Special Delivery for TZ-UK Forum members). If you're overseas, drop me a PM if you want a specific shipping quote for your region - I'll only charge the actual cost, but for Tracked and Insured Shipping I'm guessing an extra £25 for Europe, maybe £35 for the rest of the world.

This won't be the cheapest 14000M out there, but it's a lot cheaper than the few comparable models I found on Chrono24 or WatchUSeek. In fact to find one of these in such terrific condition is pretty rare, and the full Box/Papers set is another bonus.

As stated,I'm selling this on behalf of a friend, so the price quoted is firm, and I'd prefer a straight sale.

I've loads of Feedback on here, I'm a 'Top Rated' e-bay seller (2900+ deals, 100%, username 'goonermike'), and I've got plenty of Feedback on TZ-UK (username 'BigBird'), so there are no worries there.

I'd prefer a Bank Transfer for payment. PayPal if absolutely necessary, or for overseas, but I cannot accept PayPal Gifts (my account just won't accept them, and I get charged even on gifts). So if you want to use PayPal, it'll be via the 'official' route, and you'll need to add 3.5% to contribute towards Fees.

If I've missed anything, you'd like more info or pics, please feel free to PM me.

Cheers!

Mike

OK, pictures, split over 3 separate posts. I'll start with some Head Shots - and again, apologies for the reflections on the mirror-polished bezel - from whichever angle I tried, I seemed to capture an image of my fingers in the pictures....

And finally, the Full Box Set and Papers, some shots of the caseback (hologram still in place), plus a few gratuitous snaps of the lume, after a brief exposure to a bright light...
