Hi guys, I noticed I missed quite a few amazing vintage watch threads because they were posted in other sections like in the watch gallery. Would be great if you could post those threads here so that we don't loose out on ogling at your beautiful vintages. If have to post in another section, atleast a thread here with a link to the vintage thread in other sections would be great!

Thanks

And if that happens I will be inundated with requests to keep photo shoots in the gallery section to avoid discussions getting lost among picture threads. As for threads that do nothing more than reference the existence of other threads, err, no.

there's good reason to post vintage gallery posts in the - surprise - Watch Gallery.

mostly I'm the one to blame for that and Rick has followed recently - let's face reality, vintage aficionados are a miniscule minority among Breitling collectors, posting in the general gallery raises awareness about the brand's rich heritage and made many members more interested in the vintage world.

San - afraid you'll have to browse through the Watch Gallery from time to time, shouldn't be too much to ask for ?

That's true Fred but as time goes by, the vintage watch threads in the general section of the watch gallery will be lost and that would be a pity because there are some really awesome vintage threads there. Most existing vintage collectors or aspiring ones will look fo threads in the vintage section, hence my request. Then there are some like me who hardly look in the other sections because my interests are primarily in vintage watches, so trawling through dozens of modern watch threads to find a vintage one is quite difficult. But I do get your point that listing them in the watch gallery might attract some guys from the modern section to vintage.
Roff, I wasn't refering to the wrist pics gallery post, that's a great one to raise overall awareness in vintages amongst the modern folks.

Nor was I (and that's not in the gallery anyway).

Forums have sections for a reason, if it is too much effort to learn how to use the search and filter tools or to navigate through threads then I am afraid that you are going to be disappointed.

I for one always post Craig's restorations in the WATCH GALLERY for two reasons. #1 They are as much "EYE CANDY" as modern current day Breitlings {sometimes more}. #2 To show all enthusiasts what a great watch maker can do to breathe life back into a piece of art and history!!!

Rick, my request wasn't directed at anyone in particular, did happen to see the thread of your beautiful watch restoration that I missed and then scrolling down in the watch gallery, I realised I had missed a whole lot of threads that also had stunning vintage examples in them.

Oky Roff, thought you were referring to the wrist pics thread.

Roff is there any way to start a VINTAGE WATCH GALLERY SECTION in the Vintage Breitling Discussion area of the forum?

Admin can create any section that he wants, but there has to be a reason for it to exist. You've demonstrated one of the problems in your question - is it a vintage watch gallery section in the vintage Breitling area? If so then it's not really the vintage Breitling area anymore, if not then where do vintage non Breitlings go - presumably the gallery section where they go now.

Can I support creating a separate vintage Breitling gallery when we don't have a dedicated modern Breitling gallery? No, that clearly is illogical, and no one has ever suggested that a modern Breitling gallery is necessary. We have a gallery section, the front page contains two months worth of posts and takes just a few seconds to browse through to find topics that are of interest, I flat out don't see an issue with that other than people not wanting to click on the gallery and I'm not going to support cluttering up the homepage for every single member to accommodate one or two people.

Sorry Roff. Thanks for the explanation, it all makes sense.
