Did you ever seen the Breitling 769 Tournograph ?

Interesting! If also in metal and not only on paper, it would be one more non Breitling branded Chronomat 769 .
Tourneau of NY used to sell high end swiss watches under their own brand... and it was the pre-Wakmann era .

On the list of branded or co - branded Chronomat's , we have Singer , Kelbert, Kronometry Stockolm , Tourneau ... some others?

just saw that ad below, realistically dated to 1945, not "1930s" as above.

quite nicely documents the (often discussed) relationship between Tourneau & Breitling in the pre-Wakmann years.

interesting that they are advertised as 14K gold , and not the typically used 18K?

I know the US of A had (has?) a preference for 14K gold instead of 18K but I am surprised that Breitling apparently made these then in 14K and their own branded pieces in 18K

Can you point me in the direction of info on the relationship between breitling and Torneau? I have a Torneau branded watch from the 40s with some commonalities with similar Breitlings (a reference number on the caseback that matches a similar Breitling model etc). Did they share case and or dial manufacturers?

as far as we can tell from recent findings it looks as if Breitling manufactured for Tourneau - the "Tournograph" above is a Breitling Chronomat ref. 769 without any doubt, I would not be surprised (actually surprised not) to see other models branded Tourneau, please share pictures of your watch ?

Fre, here goes with aa few caveats:

1. Photos are LOUSY -- I just snapped them before I left on vacation for insurance purposes and dumb luck that I have them with me. Definitely not "Fredworthy"...
2. I am NOT suggesting that this watch is a Breitling (will be thrilled beyond belief if the gurus think it might be...). I bought this watch on a pure whim as I really wanted a moon phase and it had the 1940s Breitling aesthetic (offered half of the buy it now price and was surprised when I got it...).

I certainly think its a breitling built watch but would like to see a movement shot and inner case back shot

I also believe this (or similar watch) was disxussed before ?

+1, agree with Rene, that beauty looks so much like a Breitling, more pics would help solve this mystery! Just noticed is the same watch Rene discussed in that other thread (judging by the mark on the outer dial between 65 and 70)

Well maybe beginners luck...I will be back in Souht Africa in a few weeks and (assuming we don't have another home invasion and everything is still there....) I will take a whole lot more images and take to a jeweler and have movement pics taken too. Again, I just want everyone to know that I am not lobbying for this to be considered a Breitling (only posted the pics after request). Best, David

A Tourneau ad, a Datora 785 equivalent was $110, how much did a Breitling Datora 785 cost back then? No indication about a Breitling connection on the ad though.

I've been trying to get some info from Tourneau in the hopes that they have an archive with info on this watch. So far, pretty useless (as expected). Can anyone advise as to what movement is shown in the pics in the other thread (viewtopic.php?f=11&t=48936&start=0) with the TXY import code? Thanks!

Looks like a Venus 184. Bridge shape is a little different from usual, but close.

Thanks Roff. I exchanged emails with Tourneau and basically useless. Had hoped they would have a corporate archivist or records department with some info on the watch but effectively they say they would need to physically inspect it to say anything...disappointing.
