so you are the lucky owner of an Gen. 1a (rare, so I normally omit them, but in line w/ the fact that u have a Gen.2 dial) w/ a removable caseback, my watchmaker hates those almost as much as he hates the toploaders.

810 and 810-24 had the same cases, so no way to know if the caseback was exchanged (unlikely) or somebody could not live w/ the 24h dial and had it retrofitted - or if somebody was creative and built this watch from components, or ...... We've seen several "809"-marked Navitimers w/ 12h dials, so it's not a first, but no way to say how this happened.

Thank you so much for all of the information. I really love the watch and wanted to learn more about it and its history as this is by far one of my most beautiful watches. Hopefully I didn't pay too much for it. The watch is near mint considering it's age. The case looks great and the dial looks really nice too. Overall, it's a great example. The watch also runs very well. What do you think something like this should go for considering all of the facts and given your vast experiences with the 810? This is one that I plan to keep forever. I apologize in advance to sort of take over your thread here, but I've seen your posts and you seem extremely knowledgable on the 810.

prices for these are all over, BIN asking prices typically around 2-2.5k €/$, sometimes auctions end at similar amounts, sometimes people get lucky and pick up nice pieces well below that on auctions, don't they Buddman ? ;)

deduct quite a bit for that 810-24 case.

I ended up paying $1,500 USD so that would seem like a fair price. Either way, I love the watch and am extremely happy adding it to the stable! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

Yes, I guess they do! I don't have it yet so hopefully it's good. I just paid today for the 810 so hopefully by the end of the week I'll have it on my wrist. I'm in the us this week on a business/chronodeco pick up tour so it will be a bumper watch week. Pics to follow!

You can call it whatever you like! I call it the "ensuring safe transport of your cherished items tour". Whatever happens at the border is between me and my maker :D
