Last reply as I don't like were this is going. All about the Benjamin's.

With anything vintage be it watches or oil cans, bottom line it is always down do what a person is willing to pay for it. Plan and simple. If anyone had a cut and dry value chart they would be richer than Donald Trump. No matter where you go it will be an opinion, one persons. Take it to another and it any be different. It will vary. Recommend you find a reputable vintage watch dealer in your area and take it there.

Good Luck.

Sorry to put you all off like this. I suppose it does sound like i'm not interested in keeping the watch, and that's true. I'm not a vintage watch collector. I'm satisfied with my timex weekender. I'm a vintage motorcycle collector, and if you fellas were to stumble across a gem of a 60's barnfind honda wouldn't you be enthused that you might be able to turn it into something you would appreciate more? I I've spoken to my girlfriend about this and she doesn't mind if i sell it.

I came here because other people I asked said I should visit a horology source. But please excuse my lack of regard for your passion, it's just not my thing.

So give it back to your girlfriend's grandparents, tell them that it's worth more than they probably realised and let them decide.

Grandpa had a stroke and is in hospice and grandma is a soft-spoken, eighty-nine year old, japanese immigrant. Telling her it's worth "more than you may have thought" or "a lot" isn't going to mean anything to her.

Normal, unserviced, three register Wakmann's usually sell in the $750-$900 range. Any decent, complete, chronograph with the Valjoux 72 will sell in this area. The AOPA gives it a little boost so I'd say $1000-$1300 as is. Freshly serviced, and with no issues, $1300-$1500. Or you can ask a bunch for it and get to look at it for a long time.
