What would be my best option on a used Breitling purchase for less than 2k?

Are you asking the best place to buy, or which model to buy?

That's a bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question I'm afraid. So many variables :- what do you want to use the watch for? What type of styles appeal? Are you bothered about box and papers? Do you care which model as long as it has "Breitling" on the dial? Is condition important? Is age important? What size are you after? And once you've got an idea of that, you may even find that price varies day to day on the open market : one day you may get a steal on eBay, the next day maybe not. Lots of variables.............

A Superocean with a black dial on a Pro II bracelet. That's my unbiased opinion.

used chronomat. Very high end finish, they made watches differently and well back then (not necessarily better but you should def have one from the chornomat/crosswind era) the pilot bands feel tighter. I also like Colt 2. You may be able to find a top time which would be awesome. Sometimes hercules drop to that amount, those are slick.

Depends on what you are after.
If you want a 3 hander then a late 2000 Suprocean Steelfish can be picked up for around 2K but bear in mind that it may be in need of a service very soon, meaning another $300-400 needs to be considered.
If however you are looking for a chronograph model then a late 90s or early 2000 Chronomat model (13050/13350) may just fit the bill for around 2K plus the service costs if needed.

You could expect to get an Aerospace in very nice condition for $1500-$2000
