Can anyone give an opinion on this eBay listing?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... TQ:GB:1123
I asked for the serial number and got a reply: 'It's on the back of the watch in the picture'. I responded by explaining the number showing is the Model number not serial number. The seller was not able to provide a number (because, I assume, there isn't one) but he still insists the watch is genuine. It's the usual 'no papers or box as they were lost when I moved. I find it hard to believe anyone can buy a watch costing several thousand pounds then 'lose the watch and papers' but it's the usual excuse for not having them on eBay.
Thanks.

Many thanks for the quick response. I'm surprised the seller was unable to provide the serial number as it was only that which raised my suspicions!

A few years ago, many grey market sellers used to polish off the serial number in an effort to protect their source.

Fortunately this practice has generally ceased in recent years. It's not an issue per se if the watch is real (as this one is incidentally), but just be aware it can affect resale value, and Breitling may also potentially refuse to work on it if you ever need to send it in to them for any reason.
