Hallo all, I'm new here & new in vintage Breitling scene, recently I stumbled on this beautiful piece and tried my best to acquire it,
well... It worked and I couldn't be happier, this is my very first Breitling. I'm a vintage Rolex collector with obviously zero knowledge about Breitlings.

Beautiful watch that appears to be in really nice shape! Do you know what year it was made? I'm in the same boat as you and just acquired my first Navitimer, a 1967 809, earlier this year. It was just shipped back yesterday from my watchmaker after being serviced. Can't wait! Our watches have the 24 hour version of the Venus 178, a column wheel chronograph movement. The 24 hour version of the Navitimer came about in 1962 after Scott Carpenter (Astronaut for the Mercury / Aurora 7 space flight) requested Breitling make him a 24 hour version of the 12 hour Navitimer he had previously used as a pilot. The reason for that was it is hard to differentiate day and night when orbiting in space hence the 24 hour movement. There are folks on here a lot more knowledgeable than myself that I'm sure will chime in. Interesting caseback by the way with the middle eastern insignia. That's the first I've seen something like that. Again, congrats and welcome to the forum!

I was told it's an early 70's made.. I haven't open the case back yet, just got it couple days ago..

most probably manufactured between 1964 and 1966, maybe early 1967.

there are many Navitimers that have those Jordan markings - most probably none were personal watches of the king, but ordered by the court and handed out as presents.

non-original casebacks as no Breitling branding. or would have Breitling custom made them for Jordan like this?

Breitling produced them as far as we know.

I am a little bit confused, as the case back looks quite different to the caseback of my King Hussein Navitimer. The crown printing is much more detailed and the crown as well as the script seems to be larger at my watch, but both can be probably due to the later date of my watch, which is a 7806.

Markus, as far as I know, there are 3 types of different engraving pattern for King Hussein issue.
Mine is a smaller or the smallest engraving of all, hence the details isn't that great, no engraving head small enuf during those time imo..
