I was having a good day then I accidentally hit a counter with the side of my Aerospace. I hit it hard enough that right after I did it, I thought, oh crap. I must have done something bad. I'll tell you with 15 years of use my crystal is in amazingly good shape. This time I didn't think I hit the crystal, more the side of the case. When I raised up my arm I could see that the 2 displays were blank. I turned the stem and still blank. A few presses of the stem and there is some intermittent life. Sometimes it's working just fine, sometimes it's fading in and out, sometimes it looks like it's rebooting. When the display is dark the watch isn't keeping time, when it's alive it looks like it is.

I popped the back cover looked at the board, seemed OK, pulled and cleaned the battery a little put it back and still same result.

I think a bunch of years ago I did something similar and took it to the mall where there is a Breitling dealer. They sent it out and then told me it was a "cracked system board" or something similar. Does this sound right? 450+ dollars to repair. That really hurt. I guess whacking it that good might just do that. I didn't see any damage from the backside of the watch but I wasn't going any further. It looks like you'd have to start removing very small screws if you were.

So long story short, I really don't want to have to pay 450+ dollars if I don't have to, so I'm seeking a little advice here in the forum. Seems like the forum operator would be a good place to send it. Comments? Just don't need any hassles. I hate sending my expensive stuff out, you never know what can happen. But this time I think I have no choice.

Looking forward to your suggestions.

Oh, Any possible things I could do or try? Seeing that it's intermittent I'm guessing I need to get this in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing. Figured I'd ask anyway.

Thanks,

Roveer

It's going to need Breitling attention - there's no easy (or cheap) solution, so best get it to an AD to start the process of a service estimate.

I agree. It'll probably need a complete overhaul and will come back a basically new watch.

Watch will probably need a new electronic module. Quite expensive indeed but no cheaper/other solution...

Thanks for the replies. Guess I have to do the right thing and get this to an AD for the proper attention. Was also thinking with the age of the watch it's probably due for an overhaul and cleaning. Just going to have to bite the bullet and know that I'm doing a good thing. Even after all these years I've never found a watch that I would wear daily that I like better than my aerospace. I even chose a slightly older aerospace that had the non italic numbers over the newer model. Again thanks for your input.
