So i bought this watch from this exact add from a guy with a good reputation. The watch seemed legit, but now it stopped working. He bought it from another guy who also seemed as a good guy... So if this is fake we are two persons that have missed this :/

Welcome aboard.
The watch is real.
Did you wind it manually (40 turns of the crown) and left it on the table to see how much power reserve it has?

I think it's fake. There is a very good copy of this and someone is passing it off as real.
The date font is too thin, look at the 2 and the 16 on the second link posted. The 16 font is obvious to me.
Look at the 2 when the date is "21". The vertical sides of the 2 should be fatter than the top & bottom. Plus, the numbers are closer together.
There is also a more pronounced serif.
Compare with official pic below
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rRgyMvasOpo/U ... KSTEEL.jpg

Also this comment by the seller is very wrong

It comes with all boxes and some papers but the papers do not match the serial # on the watch. I was told it was bought from a reseller last year and the papers must have been accidentally mixed with another Breitling. The price reflects this mishap. This is a very quality time piece. Full bracelet currently sized for a 7'' wrist with 3 extra links.

Look at the rubber bezel. On the fake, the gap between 5min bar marks and chimney/outer bezel is not equal.

Now look at the three pics linked below. The gap (of rubber material) is equidistant.
Look at the very end of the tail of the 5 (of 15) on the bezel. See how the tail squares off.
Now look closely at yours. It is radiused (rounded corner).

Check the manufacture stamp between the lugs.
Try to get a watchsmith to open up the case back. It may even be loose in which case you can open it with a sticky ball or a scrunched up load of duct tape

Good luck but I have a feeling you got done

Good catch on the serial.
Date font no2 is different depending on the other number when date is 2x.
I was too quick browsing photos and now I'm also suspicious.
The replica of this model is very good and it was too quick of me to state it is real.

@andersenjea
Could you please post good hi-res photos of dial and caseback?

And pic of date at 3 and 7

...and if you remove the screws from the bracelet links, I'll bet there is no thread lock paste on any of them. In a reddy brown colour

You should be more precisely on what do you mean with "Date at 3 and date at 7", because I don't know what you trying to say and English is not my first language.

A photo of date set on 3 and 7.
That makes sense.

interesting thread, shows just how little I know; if this one turns out fake that is quite frightening - but the general rule clearly stands: never without correct & complete documents.....

No Fred, it shows that this model and it's non chrono counterpart have the best reps today.
I'm not going to verify that models any more, unless huge, clear photos of dial and caseback are provided.
Don't want to screw someone with wrong opinion and will stick with older reps, because I'm not really into this anymore.

I'm so sorry as I initially called this real. I didn't realise there were high end copies of this model.

Now that I have checked my favourite reference replica site, I'm certain it is fake as I believe the fakes of this model are using the same 2596xxx serial number range.

I saw 2596796, but don't know if the last three digits do change.
