About a month ago I tried an exercise about re-building your collection from scratch. It got some interest, so I'll try again. This one is admittedly a blatant "borrowing" from a thread I saw over at TRF. It was still very interesting there, but maybe because there are so many flavors of Rolex. Breitling is an inherently sportier brand, so it may be trickier and I thought about whether it should be three, but lets try this:

You have two watches, both Breitlings, for all you do in life--sports, formal, work, you name it. Which ones do you buy?

Since this is after all a Breitling forum, some of you already have what you want, while others would have some tricky narrowing-down to do. Others of us might replace another brand with a Breitling or, faced with only two, go a completely different direction. Again, new or vintage, doesn't matter, cost's no object on this one, just the two Breitlings you could live with happily for all occasions. As before, mulitple variations are welcome.

Well.

No. 1 would have to be the Navitimer in the B01 incarnation. History, class, technology, all there. An appropriate watch for any occasion.

However.

No. 2 needs to cover fun. I have a feeling the new Cockpit B 50 will be outstanding in this respect, moreover it covers the technology aspect from the Quartz angle and therefore, though unseen in real life as per yet, gets my vote.

Best, Bubbs99

2. Rolex 5517

Not sure where two Breitlings suddenly became one non Breitling, and I am going to answer this as if they were my only two watches - so avoiding ultra high end and vintage solely because of practical concerns - if I could have other practical watches besides the two Breitlings it would be different:

Navitimer B01 Limited Edition
Breitling for Bentley Mark VI Complications 29

For me, I'd go for -

Navitimer 01 46mm (as it's the nicest modern era Breitling so far produced IMO)

and

SO Steelfish (because it's one of the most versatile watches I've ever owned)

:uplaugh: Love that!
Mine would be a Navi 01 LE on bracelet (chrono, history and a dress watch at a pinch) and the SOSF: still (I think) the best diver Breitling has produced.

For me, a Chronomat GMT and a Bentley Motors T. Those two I could live with forever.
