Hi Members,

i Need your help.

i bought a Breitling Seawolf from ebay (include Box, Warranty Book, Chronometre Certificate).

The book and the certificate have the same Serial Number BUT i can't find the Serial on the caseback....

Answer from the seller was, he bought the watch from an ebay watch dealer e few month before. I was
able to find the dealer (with more than 1800 positive Ratings) and the auction. In the description the
dealer wrote he has cleaned the movement and polished the caseback. So perhaps thats why the
Serial is not there (anymore).

So please have a look at the photos and hopefully you tell me the watch is real

Greetings from Germany

Joe

Welcome aboard.
Parts which can be seen on photos are real.
Someone who polished the serial and "cleaned" the movement could also swap the movement.
Sounds fishy to me and can't see a reason to remove serial.
Breitling will most likely refuse to service a watch with removed serial, although there is a serial on the movement too.
I would return the watch and ask for a refund.

Thank you for your answer.

I informed the seller about the issue. But because it was a private ebay auction it could be that he will not take back the watch.
AND on one the photos the caseback is visible and now when i have seen the Photos from the new Point of view it can be seen
that there is no Serial above the Model Number but i haven't it regognized before.

So lets see what the seller says.

Serial could also be missing because it was originally grey market.

Ok, that seems to be a possible reason (I found some interesting articles about Beitling grey market).
But i bought other Breitlings before (ok all in Germany) where i knew that they were Grey market ones
but never the Serial was removed.

In General i could live with that but where i could let check that the watch is a genuine one... ?
I have all papers and therefore i have a Serial but how i can be sure that the Serial matches with the watch ?

As bnewbie already said, the outside of the watch is real. We would need to see movement pics to speak to that, but if it's real it will have a serial number which should match the papers. It was not unusual for serial numbers to be removed from grey market watches a few years ago, but it wasn't universal and it now almost never happens so entirely possible that grey market pieces would have serials intact. However, it is also one of the more common reasons for them not being intact.

Are Breitling movements engraved with serials? I know the 7750 wasn't in the super avengers.

The reps carry a serial number btw, looking at it I'd call grey market, if he won't take it back open a eBay dispute and they will issue you a refund when you return watch but please follow there instructions to the letter, if your not happy please pm me and I'll help you get a refund if required of course.

All movements are engraved with the serial number, they have to be to have a COSC certificate issued (which is issued to the movement and not the watch).
