You are right, I have owned two BB, one was blacksteel. I loved, LOVED the brushed faceted bracelet as well. In the end the size was a bit too small so I had to move them, but the Blackbird gave me a love for the big date complication which I now have on my 6.75. If they ever made a larger size Blackbird I would be all over it in a heartbeat!

Can't argue here either :) You forgot to mention the outstanding lume as well. The symmetry of the dial is outstanding and the bracelet is my favorite comparing it to the Pro2, Navitimer, Chronomat, Bentley Speed and Speedmaster bracelets that I have owned. The additional detail with the faceted bracelet is just awesome. This thread needs some pics

I'll go as far as one of the best. Nearly bought a blackeye blue a few years ago. It's a short-sleeve only watch for me, which kept me from buying it.

Have to disagree on subject.

1)I won't covert the title, "Best Breitling Ever Made" on a non in-house piece.
2)300m is definitely not the best water resistance among the entire line, although I would say 300m is more than sufficient.
3)It's a piece that looks great on photo but somehow it doesn't look that nice on the wrist. That's just my personal opinion though because I have personally tried it but somehow didn't look as good as I expected, till now I still don't understand why.

Having said that though I can't really pick any faults on the design and feels that it is one of the best Breitling model, but not the best.

I'd rather have a timer bezel. What I'm the who does a compass bezel do?

I agree, I had one of the last mint examples but sadly it was stolen from my tennis club locker so I'm having to get one of the later B01 Chronomat's instead. When I see people pay so much for pre-owned Avengers and Seawolf's etc when a pre-owned Blackbird can be had for nearly the same money it seems crazy to me that anyone would choose the former. I think people get carried away with Breitlings marketing hype and always want the latest models and forget that some of the finest Breitlings like the Blackbird and Ti Chrono avenger are discontinued.

'The Best Breitling Ever Made' that is a very subjective comment, to you it may be the best and to others the Navitimer 01 could be the best and to others it could be a certain vintage piece. The Blackbird is a great watch for sure, and I'm glad that you have a passion for it, but a comment like that is very subjective to one's individual personal tastes. IMO there is no 'Best Ever' but I do think it is one of the best Breitlings. I will admit that it has the best Breitling bracelet ever produced, hands down in my opinion.

Well.. I was on the edge of buying one for good price localy but:

- it's a bit to big for my wrist
- I'm not a fan of compass bezel
- I' m, also, not a fan of modular movements (service, power reserve, thickness)

But, older Chronomat Blackbird, as new production date as possible, that's another story hmmmm  :lingsrock:

That is exactly what I did, and have to tell myself the story each time I see a BB pic, to talk myself out of it.

In-house 46 or 47mm brushed BB, and I'll be there. :lingsrock:

By the way you missed one of the best features--lumed subdial hands.
