ok Guys, I was all set to buy a new Super Ocean 44 (and still am) BUT .......
I am having a little wobble and have started looking at the avenger seawolf too !
Whichever watch I go for, I am going for a rubber or military strap on the seawolf or super ocean on the SO.
I am drawn to both designs in different ways, they both really appeal to me.
I also REALLY like the black steel editions, but not sure on availability of these or chances of getting a discount on these, whereas the regular models I feel I can get a discount on.

So these are the options, what do you Guys think ?

For me... the SUPER OCEAN 44 looks a bit too much live a Divers watch, I prefer the AVENGER SEAWOLF, I've also been looking at the AVENGER SEAWOLF BLACK STEEL but I prefer the metal straps rather than the rubber straps. having said that though if I could get the Black Steel at the right price....

There is too much quality choice isn't there and so many great combinations of faces and straps.

Black steel are really cool, it is just the price premium and no doubt lack of discount which is the issue.

I was having the same dilema as you.

Love them both for different reasons, but eventually went for one of these:

Image

'Older' style Seawolf on the Pro II bracelet, which I prefer over the new Pro III

I love the Superocean, but couldn't persuade myself that the rubberised bezel wouldn't be a scratch magnet, and the baton dial Seawolf
is more balanced, which is another plus for me.

If funds allow in the future, I will have one but for now the Seawolf got my vote. (Arriving in July)

Tough decision, but a nice one.

Have you tried them on yet? If not, when you do, you might find the decision easy.

That is a VERY nice watch mate and a superb picture :lingsrock:

If you considered the same watches you will understand where I am coming from then.
Must confess I do like the Seawolf with batons too and it does look extremely balanced and 'just right'

Strangely ... when considering my aerospace 5 years ago I did consider the then seawolf.
This is the exact picture that got me interested in it ....

Image

BUT .. as I had ALWAYS dreamed on an aerospace, it had to be that in the end.

Image

Still love the aerospace and has not dated one bit and in some ways I love the version I got which I consider to be 'just right' in terms of face layout / numeral style etc.

So several years on, I am looking at getting my 2nd LING and was ALL SET for the Super Ocean, which caught my eye 2 years ago and has still left an impression on me for all this time and is still my #1 contender but I am seriously interested in the seawolf still !

Think you are right, I am gonna have to try them both on in the shop and then see how I feel.

Either way, I am gonna end with a great watch eh

Thanks for the comment on the pic, sadly it's not mine but the one I have been drooling over, and the one that made my mind up for me.

The Aerospace is a lovely watch and whichever you end up with to join it, you're going to notice the weight difference for sure.

When my Seawolf arrives it will be joining my B1

IF you change your mind, the forum AD here has the last few NOS of the baton dial Seawolf at a very good price.

PM me if you want more details.

Cheers,
Nick

Cheers Guys ... so a LOT of support for the Seawolf then :)

The only thing I am not 100% sure with on the Seawolf is the revised font of numerals.

If you look at the pic I posted above of the old style numerals, I really like that style - I am not so sure on the revised numerals for whatever reason ?

Sometimes I think companies feel compelled to make a revision so they can say its "new" but occasionally they got it right in the 1st place and the re-design can take something away from it.

This is the 'slight' niggle I have.

Hi all, new guy here. Second post but first real "contribution" :)

My vote would be for the Seawolf. To me the SuperOcean doesn't stand out much, it looks like just any other diver out there with the black dial and black bezel, it doesn't scream Breitling. Plus, I'm not crazy about the rubber insert.

I've owned the previous model Seawolf with black dial, numerals and Pro II bracelet for about 2 years now and I still love it as much as when I first knew of its existence. I think Breitling took a step backwards with the numerals of the Seawolf II, the font is not as sharp and as "military-looking" as the previous one, and since they're polished silver (as opposed to white on mine) they tend to disappear depending on the viewing angle. However if you go with the baton markers, then there isn't much difference between the previous and current models.

Great second post nemesis and I agree with nearly everything you say, especially regarding the newer numerals compared to the older ones.

The difference between the newer baton dial compared to the older one is that the batons on the new one are fully lumed so appear white
compared to the metal batons on the older model which, imo, makes the new model dial more legible.

I chose the older model because I much prefer the Pro II bracelet, bezel, crown guards, and the square tipped second hand compared to the diamond shape on the new one. The metal batons look very classy too.

Glad you're still loving yours. (I have to wait until July to get my hands on mine. 72 days and counting)

Cheers mate ....... I have to agree with you on the numerals and glad its not just me that thought the old style font was better looking !

I will need to scrutinise the new seawolf more closely in the shop I guess.

I did find this recently which is an interesting read and take on the new seawolf and styling ...

I hear what a lot of you are saying about the Super Ocean but I do like it ... a lot ... again may need to compare the two side by side in the AD.
