Thanks Wayne, size is one things that's worrying me since my watches are wearers, not sure I will be comfy with one smaller than my Datora 785, which is the smallest size I have gone this far.

I'd be very interested in the outcome of such an investigation performed by San :-)

So my understanding this far is that there were SS, gold capped and 18k gold(solid gold) versions of these, right? Also Chronometer versions of the watch like this one were introduced from 1959? Still not sure what the difference between the B125 and B126 movements is and if they were both introduced in 1958-59..

I have the SS version and wear it all the time. My wrist is somewhere between 6.5-7 inches. I generally find it looks best peaking out from a French cuff :)

to help San a bit, here's the launch catalog (1957, I assume) for the TransOcean 3-hands and the SO/SOC as a small bonus.

B125 is ETA 2365, no date
B126 is ETA 2369, date.

http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db. ... k&ETA_2365

watches available in SS, massive gold cap or solid 18k; men's and "a replica for Madame".

mesh bracelets in SS, GP and 18k were a factory option - says the Breitling catalog at least, some members cho(o)se to doubt that ;)

catalog also answers the question whether black dial versions were ever produced (we had some doubting posts regarding that).

now we only need an answer regarding those serial numbers on case and movement, San ?

Thanks Fred, super info as always. From the pics in the catalog, besides the elusive black one, were the other two dials silver and cream? True, now I only need to know if there were matching serials on both the inner caseback and the movement..and if am extra lucky, a picture of the Transocean side by side to a Navitimer would be great to gauge the size difference:)

And one more question, does the watch look never polished?

silverwhite on SS, champagne on GP/18k
afraid "being lucky" won't be enough, will do a Navi/TO combo shot for you one of these days ;)

an those numbers - why on earth do you need to know that ? afraid of FrankenTOes ?

Thanks for the info Fred, and thanks, looking forward to those pics:)

The numbers matching seems to be a key indicator of originality in this case, so yes, afraid of FrankenTOes. Also spoke to the seller about the watch but his expectations on price are higher than what I am willing to pay, being rare is one thing but being desirable to the masses is also what dictates high prices.

still don't understand how those FrankenTOs would happen. These decorated movements were used in the 1004 & the TO, I'm quite sure nobody would sacrifice an 1004 to produce a FrankenTO ?

but happy to have you do the research, of course.
