I mostly agree with Driver. Instruments for Professionals, is what it is.
Although for me personally, the type of movement and where it is comes from is of little importance. It should be as it says on the lid, and if its Swiss Made then it should be; If its in house then it should be. I agree that if you are a maker with purpose then you move in every direction and at all times for better product development. So, if new in house movements and three handers are necessary to keep a significant section of your customers happy, then so be it.
What I think is more interesting; Reading the previous posts here, I believe what we are striving for here is something that
does and
will continue to allude us. We need to have a serious influence on Breitling, full stop. That's not going to happen and there is no point suggesting that they review this forum and take note of points made. If that's the case then we are obviously being outvoted by the general watch buying public. They don't seem to be moving fast enough for us with change or in the areas we all think they should be going. So much disappointment by members here on just about everything would suggest the agenda on where the maker is going and where it is positioned is something we are not having an impact on. Personally once again, I would not have thought it possible to be anything other than this.
And for us poor souls? We are left discussing this amongst ourselves and in ever decreasing circles! I am getting to the point where there is little interest in announcements and too little incremental change year on year. I will stick with Breitling because of its interest in 'Instruments for Professionals', but I can't wax lyrical about it.
