After all it's called STEEL-fish, eh? :)
I like it a lot and hope that it is not larger than the CSO II. - that's 44 mm.

I'm indifferent about those Steelfish Chronos - I don't love them, but I don't hate them either.

One thing I've noticed though (and I know Baselworld hasn't even started yet, so it's still early!), but it just dawned on me that there's been no rumour this year of the often-promised-but-never-actually-materialised in-house 3 hand movement from Breitling. I guess this will be yet another year that it doesn't appear.

You realize that it's rather ironic that you point out that it should have a lot of steel because of its name and then express hope that it is one of the smallest Breitling chronos now available right?

:)
Having a small-to-average wrist of 6.75" at 44 mm this should be one of my largest chronos and the largest among my Breitlings. (CSO I. 42 mm, Grand Premiers 40 mm each and Chrono Cockpit 39 mm. Only my IWC AT 3767 is comparable with case 43.5 and bezel 45.5 mm.) I would be even happier if the same dial and case outfit should come in around 40-42 mm. But hey, it's just me and I do not want to steal the thread of the new Breitlings of Basel 2014... just happy about the new CSF and wish the size should be wearable for me.
Best,
Robert

I've given up hope on a 3 hand in-house movement. They can't even move the chronos around on the 01 or 04 movement, why would I believe they're working on a 3 hand movement? I need a thumbs down emoticon.

The current SOC is 44. I'd wager they are re-using the same case just like they did with the Steelfish case for the SO44

That's what I hope. Cost-saving :) And it does look like a very similar size. I've just found on the internet that the weight on steel bracelet is 237 g which is way too heavy and if I'll buy I'll upgrade it with the double-pusher clasp of the Ocean Racer which adds a bit of extra weight. My IWC AT Chrono is cca. 205 g, on the upper limit of tolerable. From the 237 g comes down the weight of the links to be taken out to fit my 6.75" wrist. A bit of hope weightwise...

I like the wide bezel, makes it look tougher and more substantial on the wrist I imagine.

I love the Chronomat. I can see myself owning a 41mm version of that at some point. My first reaction to the Steelifish is that I'm glad to see the name revived. My second reaction is that it's a massive improvement on the SCO2. My third reaction is... ANOTHER bezel style from Breitling? Really? Can't we have some design coherence (apart from rubber inlays)? In addition, from a practical standpoint, as a diver, having rider tabs on a bezel really helps when you're diving with gloves.

If Breitling are to be believed (perhaps a big if, but I tend to believe it), there is a 3 hand movement but they haven't been able to produce it at a cost that would be commercially viable - the price would have to be too high for the kind of watch that it would go into.

I suspect that over the last few years they have pretty much shelved that project because non chrono pieces are never going to be their core business and I suspect that they are happy enough with current sales levels in all but Galactics.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. I don't know if I would want an in-house three hand, it would just increase the cost to a level probably too high for the 'entry' level pieces (Colts and SOs). I don't mind the ETA movements in these pieces as they offer a good (relatively speaking) value across the Breitling line-up.

I'm with Terry on this one.
