Recently I was showing my wife the watch I would want if she were ever to get the urge to buy me a new one. Now she has given me the green light to pull the trigger on a Super Avenger. I am being told the model I want has been discontinued. I would like to purchase the white dial with Arabic numerals in the 48 MM size like the one recently pictured in the for sale forum. Any suggestions or leads on one of these?

It would help if you gave a location.

First step would be to contact one of the US forum sponsors to see if they can help - Govberg is always a good option.

That was my first call. No luck. Have called several dealers in the U.S., and I'm not having much luck. Any thoughts on Little Switzerland?

I can buy new for about $1000 more than a preowned. Thoughts on this. Do you think it's worth the extra money. And by the way, I keep all my watches. I do not resell after a certain time. This will make my third Breitling. Just like to have some thoughts on the price difference.

A very subjective call - how risk-averse are you? I am, so I'd pay the extra for the peace of mind. But others would back their judgment on a good s/h one and relish thinking about what else they could do with the $1000. Hard to be abstract about this therefore.

For me it would be worth the extra 1000 bucks for a brand new piece, and the piece of mind for sure.

For $1k I'd buy new. The differential has to be more than that for me to go used. But that's completely subjective so your call on this one.
