I see that the Breitling Emergency 2 has had a price reduction.
Originally announced for UK at £12,040 on bracelet, it is now priced at £11,050 on the bracelet.
Obviously the stock hasn't actually hit the shops yet and still big money, wonder what caused them to drop the price?

Even at 11K quid is a lot of money to pay for something that exists in pictures only ;-)
It has been a year now since it has been announced, yet no sign of it.
This would be the first in history for an announced product to go down in price before it even hit the shelves.

Sure, can not wait.
Even at 11K quid plus my 6" something wrist.
I don't think so.

Not sure if the reduction is driven by technical efficiencies or market perception, but really, at that price level, what difference is it going to make? It's still a rich guy's toy rather than a working pilot's tool.

You're right. Even with price reduction it's still a crazy price.

And a crazy size watch to put on your wrist.
Having said that, if only one or two passengers had it on their wrist on board of MH370.
Millions of dollars in SAR would have been saved by now.
Not to mention the families grief :-(

You will have no problem buying this watch with a huge discount. It will be a very tough watch to sell for an AD. I have spoken a few and most will not even consider to stock it.
When they can make a quick buck buy selling one with a nice discount, good chance they will do it.
For sure a down payment will be required if they order it for you.

It can be a real challenge to keep a normal size watch in good condition with all the metal in the average (airliner) cockpit, with a piece of this size it will look like a scrapheap pretty fast if not worn with the greatest care....

They may not have any choice about stocking it. Breitling already requires ADs to stock a mix of pieces - requirements for gold pieces in many ADs for example, so wouldn't be surprised if they said that to get orders of more popular models the AD has to carry stock of at least one E2 (or however many make sense in that market). In addition, we know that Breitling already mystery shops ADs on a regular basis so if they suspect excessive discounting of this model they will start targeting that watch and those stores.

I think/hope you are going to be able to get these for like 10-13.5k USD. Which will put it against the sport Rolex' lineup in the US.

Has US Pricing been released?

I don't think Rolex cares if this goes up against their sport lineup. I don't think the same customer going into buy a Sub, GMTIIc, Deepsea, or even a Daytona will look twice at the Emergency 2.

Think it's more that if you only have one you might overbalance.
