I don't really use 'em. I like the look of a chrono and can appreciate the design (looking at buying one now, in fact) but I have a Casio Pathfinder and a Timex Ironman with a 100-lap memory, I use those if I need to time something.

I like the look and I like the purpose for all sorts of stuff. You make up reasons when you have it. Fun to watch the hands move around and around and around.... 8)

Other than just how a chrono features adds to the aesthetics of the watch, it is good to have so you can just make excuses to use it.

I use it at least once a week to challenge someone to a foot race. When the Olympic's were on I was using my cosc certified chrono features during all the events. By my official times several more people should have broken world records.

I'm with Tunnel Ling - I use them quite often for all kind of stuff. Ebay monitoring, cooking, bbq... And if I'm not using them for a while, I let them run every now and then anyway just because I like the look of the chronograph running.

I basically time stuff that has no relevance to anything. You know, stuff that I wouldnt bother to time if I didnt have a chrono.

Recently though, ive been leaving it running 24/7, just because I can.

What? You mean you, the chronograph is FUNCTIONAL??? Huh? Is it like this much talked about "sliderule" thing??? eh?

Yeah I use mine for timing eBay items in the last few mins as well. And for cooking now and then too - steaks many, but it's great for boiled eggs too!

I also generally prefer the aesthetic look of chronographs as well, and particular the "busy" look it gives the dial. Apart from my knockaround/beater Steelfish, I always look to the chronograph models first.

Actually they can be used for something meaningful too... I used the chronograph while measuring time between contractions when my second daughter was born.

I use it frequently for timing examinations but can just as easily use a diver bezel. I don't ever need 1/5th second accuracy.

I only ever tend to use mine for avoiding parking fines by ensuring I don't overstay on my ticket.
