Not sure if this is a genuine bezel for this model ? (which is the reason I posted in this section)

I know James Dowling had one awhile ago and sold it for $10K and now this one
so basically you can make a 2.5-3K watch , put a $200 bezel on it (after you find one of course) and you have a $10K watch ?

guess what ? , I have one of those watches as well and its now worth $10K ;-)

massive doubts; not documented in any advertisement or catalog, an easy switch, as you note.
have seen two pieces offered w/ the later running seconds 2005, from a very unreliable source (not TheSage).

I have seen those as well Fred, but as you say undocumented and its very easy to take a 7650 yachting (or 7660 etc) and put it on the SO 2005 , case and bezel sizes are the same

would like to see provenance as none of my 1965/66 booklets , leaflets or even the SO 2005 user manual I have mentions the yachting model

still , I just increased the value of my collection ;-) (James Dowling says so , and who am I to doubt the rolex expert when it comes to Breitling ?)

well, they can't really be that rare, I happen to own one too ! ;)

but now something truly interesting, a 765 w/ a perfectly fitting Unitime bezel:

DISCLAIMER: there is NO indication whatsoever there ever was a Unitime in a 765 case - just one bezel that turned up as a NOS spare at a UK jeweller, a true enigma !

Honestly ? , you owning one doesnt say anything about it being rare or not ,chances are that if there were only 2 pieces made or left after 50 years , you have one ;-)

;)

a dangerous thread, hope we aren't quoted out of context.
just imagine how some people would describe (and "value") my "ref. 765 Unitime AVI" .......

just to make my point clear again, I consider ALL watches above (exluding the "normal" ref. 2005 w/ a 60 minute bezel on Renè's wrist) FRANKENWATCHES !

I am "some people" and I would ask for provenance ;-)

P.s taking off a good fitting bezel requires a lot of prying, i would not recommend it doing too often !! You may damage the aluminium bezel :-(

and, going back to your link to that watch for sale on omegaforums.net, we know quite well how these Yachting bezels fade; dial shows typical/massive lume deterioration, but the bez4el is crisp as new.

I am more than willing to admit being incorrect when proper documentation and provenance is provided
