I am not convinced it was made by Breitling

Clebars are common choices as the basis for Breitling fakes because of similarities in design. Here it's just a creative seller trying to get more for the watch by associating with a bigger name.

How does ZODIAC become involved in this? The same way as Breitling or was Zodiac associated with Clebar?

Slight oversimplification but the easiest way to describe it is that Clebar was a brand products by Zodiac.

Well here's my only Clebar, not bought for the watch it is. :)

Also, its badge engineered cousin, a Titus. Also, not bought for the watch it isn't.

I like them, but they never get worn on my wrist. Both in going condition and keeping reasonable time. But with these two, thats really besides the point. :D

There must be millions of these things hidden at the back of sock drawers and in attics all over the western world.

Sorry for the rubbish photo.

We've been over this before. During the 1940's there were many identical watches to Breitling's offered by quite a few different companies. They have the same dials, hands, cases, movements, and reference/serial numbers. just to name a few; Welsbro, Crawford, Harman, Clebar, Marvin, and others. I just think they all bought from the same source. The only good thing about that is they provide plenty of spare parts when needed as the plated cases usually show a lot of wear over the years.

I forgot to mention. Having only a picture to go by, I think there was a Helvetia model as well. Can't be absolutely sure but looks about right. Titus shown here is absolutely nos. Wonder why it was never worn!

Looks like a definite connection to Breitling with this one.

Clebar was a brand that Heuer used to build watches for too. Sometimes some Clebar chronographs are called the "poor man's Heuer" too, e. g. the Carrera Dato 12 Mark I. also had a Clebar (and probably a Zodiac) dialled version, all with Valjoux 72 C.
The swiss watch industry had some tricky things behind the curtain back then too... e. g. Heuer manufactured the "Killy" for Rolex, while a bit later Arola manufactured some nice seventies Vljoux 7750-driven chronographs for Heuer - and the very same watch for Longines too. I haven't heard about a similar relationship about Breitling and Clebar though.
