Hi Guys,

New to the forum and looking forward to speaking with you. I have a B-1 LE RAF Harrier (One of 50) and I am considering selling it (preferably to a worthy home - collector etc.) Where would you recommend advertising such a piece in order for it to reach the right kind of buyer?

I have been to my local AD and they don't seem interested, as if it's just another B-1.

Looking forward to any help you can give.

Regards,

D4uphin.

The classifieds here are as good a place as any - it's where specialists will look.

Note, however, that the consensus is that such pieces are typically less and not more valuable than a standard piece ('just another B-1'), for the simple reason that if you haven't flown / serviced an RAF Harrier you probably don't want such a piece. So it does make the watch more niche, which is not the same as more valuable.

You don't state a location but if it's UK then I'd contact Andrew Michaels, who were very probably responsible for the commission in the first place, and might be keener on taking it in as s/h stock.

TomP,

Many thanks for the advice, I will get in touch with AM to see if they can point me in the right direction.

I am in the UK, and now you mention it, AMJ rings a bell as to where the commission came from initially circa 2006. I'n not particularly looking to shift it on trying to make a huge profit, just that I would like it to a go to a good home i.e to a harrier pilot/engineer who either wants one for their collection or didn't get one first time around. The watch will have a lot more meaning to someone from the Harrier arm of the RAF.

Many thanks again.

Regards,

No, they didn't "break a lot". Britains Harriers were decommisioned in Dec. 2010 due to defense budget cuts.
