I need some advice on a rolex. I have been offered this watch for 1.500,00 US dollars.
Its a submariner. I am no expert but it looks like a replica.
The owner has no box or papers and that sounds fishy enough
but he swears by its authenticity.
I sad I was only going to consider buying the watch if
he provided some pictures so I could get advice from an expert.
I would really appreciate any input.
Regards

To be honest I think you'd be better asking this on a Rolex forum as the Submariner is one of the most regularly and expertly faked watches in the world. The Chinese are now even faking the movement too, so I wouldn't touch a non-AD Submariner with a bargepole, especially one without papers, but then I'm not a Rolex expert.

Plus 1500 USD is ridiculously low for a Subbie. I'm of the opinion that if a deal looks too good to be true, it usually is.

And while Rolex date fonts can be tricky because of the Cyclops, that one looks real bad.

For me It looks fake with the date doesn't look correct and the inside clasp looks a bit odd, But not 100% their are some very good fakes out their.

Thank you all for your time and input.
Driver 8 - will follow your advice and ask this question on a rolex
forum. Agree that this sounds too good to be true.

Roff and Joe6263 - the date was the detailed that jumped at me
at me as this not being real.
Regards

The date isn't magnified at all, a clear sign that it's fake and to stay away!

Date definitely looks wrong to me. As others said, I wouldn't touch that particular watch without proper papers because the fake is so good.

Stay away from that one. I can spot several problems just from those pics.

Awful fake. The date font and cyclops are miles off. The engraving on the rehaut beneath crystal is almost black.
1500 is extremely cheap which is another reason to be wary.

Check genuine pics from a online retailer such as
http://www.blowers-jewellers.co.uk/stee ... _w4905.htm

Thanks again to all that spent their time helping
me identify this watch as a fake.
I have politely declined the offer to buy the watch.
Regards

You must have heard the saying before

"If it's too good to be true it probably is"

This is a pic of a fake subc. If it were real this would sell used for around 6800-7200. Who in their right mind would sell it for 1500 usd??

Did you convey the 'fake' verdict to the seller Fraga?

I guess the replica watch companies don't understand the purpose of the Cyclops....
