Hi folks

I've decided to sell my steelfiish, steel strap, blue face, genuine and all boxes, papers and receipts, 3.5 years old, worn very little but wound weekly to keep it lubricated and it has a power reserve of 41-42 hours so is healthy, in great condition with just the usual strap clasp scratches from desk wear.

I asked a big online watch retailer but they made a low offer, and recent sales on Ebay have been much higher.

Is this a good time to sell it, it having been discontinued?

Is ebay ok, I thought of a buy it now deal at £1450 with a 'best offer' option?
Or would a plain old auction be better - I'd worry about it selling for £100 or something crazy with an auction, the stress must be enormous with those! I could set a reserve but I've always hated bidding on auctions with reserves.

Is it worth selling it on here, does that work well, and get a similar price to ebay? Are steelfish in demand, I don't see many for sale on here. So they might be rare, or no-one is selling them, or no-one is buying!

Am I allowed to sell on here, I seem to remember you had to be some sort of senior member. And know how to post photos too lol!

Are there any dishonest buyer pitfalls, I read ages ago about a buyer (who bought on here I think?) who claimed the watch received was a fake, effectively swapping the received watch for his fake and claiming for fraud, quite worrying!

Thanks for any suggestions, very much appreciated.

Martin

eBay is fine for selling.
There are lots of scammers but as long as you keep the sale within the uk you should be ok.

However.....this is a watch that has been repped very well indeed.

I'd try and sell it on here and fall back on eBay if it doesn't.

It will fly at £1450 buy it now, no need for a best offer.

Hi and thanks, I didn't know it was a watch that got copied a lot. Does that mean people will wonder if mine is a copy? I've got all the paperwork and certificates and even the original Goldsmiths receipt so they should be satisfied about that. I will sell it on here if I'm allowed to, I haven't sold on here before (so haven't got any feedback) but have 250+ and 100% on ebay.

I've also got a rare 10 year old Omega I'll try and sell at the same time on here.

Is there a seller's FAQ? Ie how to put photographs on, and the best ways to pay (ie not western union)?

Thanks again

Mart

Completely up to you how you choose to accept payment, buyers will appreciate the peace of mind of PayPal. If you list an item for sale here then buyers will know that it is real - fake listings don't last very long, and neither do the members trying to sell them!

Thanks for answering, much appreciated, I'll list it in a couple of weeks once I'm back from a business trip.

And remember to avoid brand new buyers, both on forums and ebay.
If you are going to use things like paypal, i think there is an option only to sell to confirmed members too.
Both of these are either options in your ebay profile, or in the actual listing of the item.
Ive been able to set the minimum feedback needed for buyers before on different items.
