Well you can drill a hole, but it won't do much good :-)

Can't see a darn thing from the movement photo on that one, you need a closer and in focus shot.

Thank you I'm learning lots

had a look at the R7740 bridge and can't tell if it is a Breitling marked bridge or not, pic isn't good enough; this could well be one of the "assembled" piece, fine with me, as long as only original Breitling parts are used.

his statement about replacing a Cal.11 or 12 with an R7740 shows that he might be a watch dealer, but knows nothing at all about these movement; the R7740 has the normal crown position between the pushers, Cal. 17/12 have the crown on the opposite side of the movements; so w/ the 7101 you see the crown at 12, with the 2117 the crown sits at 6. no, you can't just "drill a hole".

The 7740 one from chrono24 has the crown in top between the bottoms. He sent me some pictures which I can't seem to post here. I was perhaps the one that confused you by taking about swapping in/out the 7740 for cal 11/12 movements. Because I did know that wasn't possible.

the R7740 has the normal crown position between the pushers, Cal. 17/12

The one on ebay is a 12 with 2117 because of the crown at the bottom?

The on on ebay with the crown at the bottom is rarer?

there is a (now corrected) typo in my post, it should say "Cal. 11/12 have the crown on the opposite side of the movements"

both Pult/Pupitre (that's how the "Bullheads" were named by Breitling) on C24 are ref. 7101 with Valjoux R7740 (crown at 12), the ebay auction is for a 2117 with a Breitling/Heuer/Bueren cal. 12, crown at 6.

yes, these are rarer.

I friend of mine won the World Duathlon Champs (for 50-55 year old) a couple of years ago in your home town (I believe)! Very nice place by all accounts.

thank you for your help everybody. I ended up buying this

Image

It's not the eBay Auction that was posted on here. I managed to find another one and get it cheaper then the one in the other auction. I guess it's because he put Bullshead in the title and I paid cash!

The chap may of misspelt bullhead but the watch is good and he lives near the Breitling Service Centre south of Turnbridge Wells so get his watches looked by 'some friends' who work there.

Cheers!

Difficult to say more without seing a pic with caseback off, but from that sole pic I can say that to get it closer to original you will have to find a brown dial + correct hands + maybe a orange subdial hand.

As far as I know - and for sure Fred will confirm - bezel and dial colours are always assorted . You can source matching hands from watchcoaustralia .Dial would be more difficult , but if you are enough lucky you can buy a brown one and compensate by selling the blue one .

what can I say .......

of course Phil is right, was unsure how to comment; you've asked us about several piece and then decided to go ahead with a piece without having it verified here - and a lot is wrong at first glance. hope the movement is original, the visible rest is a hodgepodge of mismatched or wrong components, also the tachy ring is wrong for that dial.

actually hate writing this, would have loved to congratulate you on a perfect find.

Looks like a jumped too quickly. The dial and bottom hand are obvious and I should of notice that. I'm not sure I would of picked up on the hour/minute hands being different.

I posted one of his other watches for sale which you said was original then I guess I extrapolated with his positive feedback and thought that he was genuine.

Hopefully you will tell me the movement is original?

I will contact the seller tomorrow but I suspect that I will not have any luck.

I guess I have to look out for bits.

Just to be clear. This watch is all correct

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380535140119&clk_rvr_id=586433532779

I'm suggesting a swap and return of some cash

this is a professional seller - so you should NOT have a problem to get your money back - it's the law, in the UK and across all of Europe !

why settle for a watch like the Top Time 814 instead of the Pult you had been searching for ?

The ref. 2117 is CLEARLY misrepresented by the seller, he calls the watch "in excellent original condition l", nothing could be further from the truth, let me sum it up.

blue dial and a brown tachy insert & bezel - clearly mismatched, this combo was NEVER produced by Breitling.
date wheel wrong, taken from a Cal. 11/12 with a date display at 6
all hands wrong (well almost, the chrono second an the minute counter seem correct).

The movement pic isn't clear enough to tell whether it is a correctly marked Breitling version, I actually doubt it.

seller claims "Guaranteed to be 100% genuine" - well, it very, very clearly isn't, it's a typical parts bin Frankenwatch.

Here is a pic of a Breitling Cal. 12 in a Pult ref. 2117 for comparison if you can get better pics of that FrankenPult movement.

as Phil says, correct hands are available at reasonable prices, as are correct date wheels - but finding a correct brown Chrono-Matic dial will be quite tough, most of the dials are for V7740 versions - and no, they are NOT compatible.

Get your money back from that seller - and stay well clear of any other watches he has on offer, who knows what inconsistencies you'll find there, with watches "Guaranteed to be 100% genuine"
