With the latest interest we're now down to a silly 4.2 watches per person. :) I might not be up to that, but maybe 2 or 3... ;)

You see guys, this is the problem with the Limited Edition concept - we already have about 6 or 7 design ideas for LE watches in this thread! All of them great, but getting a concensus on one design would be nigh on impossible.... I guarantee it.

What we really need is a very rich "sugar daddy" type prepared to buy all 50 of a certain design and then resell them to whoever wants them. (And before you ask, that's not me! :? ) This is why groups like airforce squadrons manage it so well - the government pays, the CO probably gets final say on the model (i.e. no arguments!) and any logo is already there and set in stone.

Global co-ordination of something like this amongst disparate people would be a mammoth undertaking, and as much as we'd all want it to happen, I just don't see how it would.

Sorry to dampen enthusiasm here guys.... (I think the pouring rain outside my window this morning has depressed me! :( )

I would potentially also be in on this proposition. My wrist isnt worthy of a an SA, but in terms of models perhaps we could start with features, in order to narrow it down. I mean getting 50 ppl to agree is hard, but maybe something like:

1) Size
2) Chronograph
3) Strap
4) Water Resistance
5) Metal

etc, so then we may come up with something like

1) 44-46mm
2) Yes
3) Bracelet
4) At least 100m
5) Stainless

that may allow us to narrow down models.

Andrew

Driver8 speaks sense. If it is going to work it's going to have to be a basic model that most people can enjoy. There are plenty of basic models which lots of us like and the fact that is a LE makes special.

I refuse to associate myself with a comment like "Driver8 makes sense", but we do need to just draw a line in the sand around the model, colour, etc and if that leaves some people disappointed, well that's life.

I don't think that an SA is a very good idea because:

1) a lot of people have them and not everyone wants two
2) the size is restricting for some people

Now the size argument could be made for any watch I guess, but I think that the 42 - 46mm range is probably 'safest'.

The SOHC has a lot of appeal to me as it's new and relatively restricted in options which means that a LE that looks truly different isn't too difficult, but the non traditional look may rule it out.

Inevitably I think we are going to end up in the Windrider or Aeromarine range to maximize practicality and appeal

I agree with andrewpc that we should go steel, otherwise we are restricting the market again, and a bracelet makes obvious sense - straps can always be added as personal choice.

I, too, would like it to be the SOHC. Mostly because I don't own one yet, and it would be perfect for me in terms of my collection and its size. Having said that, I like the color options that Mario showed with his rendition of the SA, but was wondering if we could spice it up just a little more with a bit more red? (Gray/Grey and Red are a nice combo)
My point is, I want just a little distinction beyond the normal, regular line on what we chose, or the piece runs the risk of looking like every other piece on someones wrist. What drew me to the Asian LE was it's distinctive color combo of off white/cream and the green bezel. I recognize this is not everyones cuppa, hence my support for grey/red.
I also like the option or orange/blue or yellow/something else, but I digress...
Now, to the real issue. Deciding amongst a worldwide group.
I suppose that we SHOULD, indeed, narrow down the specifics, or this is all simply academic.
I agree, though, beyond the head, we should have it done w/ a bracelet. If you chose to order a strap as well, that is your personal choice and an added discussion between you and your AD.
42-46mm would be ideal. Any bigger or smaller, and we run the risk of losing interested parties.
Chrono allows for a more distinctive color variety, i.e., silver subs on a grey dial, etc.
Saphire case back would be ideal and make this piece even more collectable.
Anyway, I am rambling and repeating what others have said.
Makes me miss being part of a military unit w/ a cdr. who makes the decision....(BTW, I AM still in)

I too would be very interested in a SOHC, particularly the black dial/red bezel combo that Driver8 mentioned a few days ago. Or a grey dial/red bezel?

I suspect that we'd have more chance with Breitling if we make fewer changes (e.g. existing colour dial but new/bespoke bezel) but I do agree that it needs to be different enough overall from a standard model to give it some unique appeal.

And to think I was just praising your attempts at assistance on another thread before reading this, Roff!

Right, if we're still up for this, I agree with the majority and say lets keep the size sensible (44mm to 46mm), lets keep the metal steel, and mods to minimum.

So my vote would definitely be as follows -

- SuperOcean Heritage Chronographe.
- Steel case.
- Black dial.
- Red bezel, or maybe the green bezel from the 50th anniversary model that started this thread.
- Black leather strap (this would keep the cost down and allow people to get something else at a later stage if needs be).
