Notice how THU is misspelled on the date day wheel.

You are correct. Its a star in a shield.

The movement number is stamped under the shield. Looks like 150. Not sure that's relevant though, and there is a through hole in the 1, or is it 7?

Yep, if it's got 150 on the base plate it's smaller than the 183. I think the calendar version of the 150 is the 191.
