Accurate fakes of early Chronomats are very rare but I'm pretty sure this might be one. What do you guys think?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BREITLING-Chr ... 1228504245

Watch is Valjoux 7750 based and date font looks okay. However:

- Fictitious ref number 51.397 ? (Early Chronomats should be ref 81.950)
- Crown and pushers are definitely fake
- Bezel is very poor quality, even allowing for wear and damage
- Bezel pearl looks off-centre
- No lume markers on dial so dial is refinish at least
- Font wrong on '30' rider tab

Not sure. Agree with all of your assessments, but then look at this:

That one appears to have the same 26810 s/n as my OP watch!?

This one in Roff's link is also suspect, the logos on the dial and sec hand are wrong.

I don't know if 26810 is a serial though - wouldn't be the first one with two model references about this time. I'm sceptical, but if it's wrong then it's a very good fake for this period.

I might report as nothing looks right on this apart from the date wheel. Even the case/back look wrong, case back looks slightly too small and the crown guards are not deep enough, 5min notches on inner bezel wrong, etc

Very odd. Found a reference to the watch with picture on another Italian site. Link here

http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.orologico.info%2Findex.php%3Ftopic%3D17821.0

Doesn't mean it's real but I can't be 100% sure it's fake so not reporting.

I am still 100% sure its a fake
the copper (on the italian one) is even shining through the bezel

That close-up has the same flaws I noticed in the OP watch. I think I remember a rumour about a batch of Breitling fakes from Italy in the 1980s.
I am convinced these are fakes so reporting.
