Thanks Paul! Looking at it now, I'm wondering what took so long to take the plunge. I absolutely love this watch!

Well..... The polishing went great, got it looking nice and shiny. However.. I unscrewed the pushers to run the chronograph, and this happened. Image

I'm wanting to return the watch, but part of me once to just send it out for repair. The chronograph does run, I was able to screw the pusher back on.
I need a consensus on what I should do. If you guys don't mind?

With the problems and concerns, I would send it back. It seems that it wasn't what you were expecting from the beginning.

If you like the watch very much just send it for a good overhaul, get what's need to be replaced replaced, so that it will come back as good as new. That's the downside and risk of getting a used piece. I believe the previous owner already knew about this issue but he kept it from you. You still do not know if the movement has any issues yet. Since you got it at a very good price then just spend some money to get it overhauled and checked once and for all. After all it's not a cheap watch that you are getting so you should not tolerate any fault on the watch.

Truthfully, if I hadn't taken the time to polish it up nice, and really get to appreciate the Chronomat for the first time; then I probably would just send it back for a refund. I'll just take your advice and get the overhaul, then like you said I will be able to properly enjoy my new watch.

You have to wonder if this many concerns have arisen in the first few days then what's not going to show up until later?

There's no warranty so unless price plus service plus repairs (which could be pricey if there are movement issues) plus 'risk discount' for potential future problems are less than you could get another one for then I would return it. Plenty of others out there!

I'm going to sleep on it, but I'm still leaning towards just keeping it and sending to Breitling. I also tightened up the pusher so for now it's safe, I just won't play around with it anymore.

Since you have polished it maybe just wear it for about a mth to check whether any issues with the movement. Because overhaul includes polishing so it will be "wasted" if you send it in now. Wear it for a mth and after it gets a few scratches just send in for the overhaul and bring up all the issues that you encountered;)

Thats a dame shame. Like Roff said what other issues could there be. I guess it all comes the price you got it for. Hopefully it was low enough for you to get a service and have it at a good price. Not knowing the full story but I would personally return it. I guess I you knew what you were getting don't but do if you didn't. Either way hope it work out.

Put it this way, Even if I have to dump another grand into it, it was still cheaper than buying pretty much any other model I've come across. I am thinking after it's all said and done I will still be financially comfortable with my purchase. It is a shame that it happened, but it gives me a reason to send it out and have it all checked out, and when I get it back I will have piece of mind.

I would be worried if it came in that condition, but if you still have more than 1k in cushion, that would ease my mind slightly where hopefully you will have a brand new condition watch with a one year warranty coming back to you after the overhaul.

Matt, also keep in mind that full overhaul + crystal replacement may well be over $1K. I would call BUSA and ask for approximate estimate so that you know what awaits you! Just had mine and my brother's Navi World's overhauled (incl crystal replacement) by Breitling and the price was over $1,400 for each. Also, there was absolutely nothing wrong with them. I did get a $100 on each since I sent them many watches before.

Yikes, that isn't even an in house movement which will cost more. That 1k buffer doesn't seem quite so large now.

I would certainly be concerned about it going above $1,000. It's not going to take much in repairs to get above that threshold if the watch has had a hard life - an in house service alone is well on the way to that level, especially when you add in the cost of the hands.
