I have the U-Boat Flightdeck 50mm case with carbon dial. The retail price on this was $4,200.00, and I was able to get a pretty good discount. It is definitely a watch you are going to want to go and try on before you make your decision. A simple Google search will produce more pricing and discounts offered. I like the watch and I have my eye on another model for future purchase.

I actually came across a jewellers on Saturday that sold U-Boats and I have to say one of the 50mm "Thousands of Feet" models really caught my eye.

@ Nathan - Do you know if it is Sapphire crystal or some other kind of mineral glass on the U-Boat models? I had a look on the U-Boat website and apart from looking nice, there was precious little information about them technically. :?

A jeweller's in Bournemouth on Westover Road. Not sure what it's name was but it's a few doors down from Mappin & Webb, the Breitling AD.

Hmmmmm, not sure. :huh I didn't go inside, and the picture of the inside of that shop on that website looks a little too "traditional" from the place I remember. I've just checked Yell and there are no other jewellers on that road, but I'm sure there's more than two along there.....

I only remember the non-Chronograph version that I quite liked and it was around £2K if I remember rightly. This is the one I saw -

http://www.jurawatches.co.uk/watch.asp?productid=4349

Not sure I'd spend that on one though. And as I only saw them in teh window, I'd need to know a lot more about them first - what's the crystal made of, what it wears like, etc, etc before even considering parting with any cash.

I found this written about U-Boat watches. Your right about finding technical information, I hope this helps. I believe the glass used on these watches is a crystal of some type. I agree with you Driver, "The thousands of feet" models are great.

All items in the collection are made of mechanical Swiss ETA movements, whether automatic or manual; each are housed in full-bodied oversized steel cases.

PVD treated crystals, and precious metals beautifully merge with rubber and steel details, challenging traditional design standards in the world of timepieces.

That suggests mineral crystal to me - if it's sapphire you would claim that wouldn't you?

I will have to admit to you that I am not sure what the answer is to this question, but I did at one point intensively research and ask questions with two different AD's before purchasing my U-Boat. This was just simply a watch that I had to have, I just could not stop thinking about it. It is also a watch that draws a lot of interest and curious stares when I am wearing it. It's a super watch but I would rather own a few more Breitling's before I purchase another one.

We are all lucky to have such knowledgeable watch collectors here at the Breitling Source to help learn about Breitling's. This is not the case with some other watch brands?
