Hi Guys

I am new here I have been a Breitling owner for a number of years Navitimer and for the past two and half years a SOH 46mm Chrono its a watch i do love but now it gets a tad heavy for everyday use. Anybody else feel the same way

There’s a lot of individual preferences in all of this of course. I have never had a situation where my watches get too heavy for me, and I have one heavy weight watch (Mido) which is so beautifully balanced, I hardly notice it when it’s on my wrist. My Navitimer seems a little light weight compared to others these days, although when first worn I regarded it as a heavy watch.

Wrist size is also a consideration. The SOH 46mm Chrono weighs in at about 109gms, and although I don't own one, this is in the Navitmer World weight category. I think this is a very comfortable weight, but there again I have a large wrist. 65mm across.

Having said all that, I would definitely notice the difference in weight swapping watches either way (lighter to heavier and vise verse) but I also find that swapping bracelets for straps sometimes has a big effect on weight.

I have a smaller wrist and the same watch and i dont mind the weight at all.

I think its because most of the time I wear my Sub and my Omega Bond 300 both of which extremely comfortable and light compared to the SOH

Personally I never find ANY watches too heavy, and that includes tungsten watches, and SA's on bracelets. I completely forget I'm even wearing a watch after a couple of seconds.

To be honest I've never really understood the "too heavy" argument myself, but maybe it's because I wear my watches quite tight so I don't have to deal with them flapping about my hand.

I understand it, as it pretty easy to empathize with wearers on this matter. I sometimes wonder though if it’s the weight question or the awkwardness of larger watches getting in the way of everyday ‘flaying of arms’, even on a tight wrist setting. If your wrist gets a little numb or sore from wearing a watch, then weight could be a factor.

To me it is only matter of thickness. Weight is never a problem.

I still maintain that perceived heaviness is down to how you wear a watch. If you wear it loose like a bracelet then I guess having 270g of steel (in the case of an SA on the bracelet) flapping around your hand may be noticeably heavy. However if you wear it tight enough not to flap around then I'm pretty sure you won't notice the weight at all : I know I certainly don't notice the weight of any of my watches.

But as we always say, each to their own.

I just got my non-chrono version of the SOH 46 two weeks ago. So far I am VERY happy with the weight as it just sits right on my wrist.

I may have to take one more link out of the mesh bracelet as when it slides up on my wrist it rotates a little, but I'm not going to tighten it up too much, I like a little give and don't like it when the the band or the back dig into the wrist (it makes me feel fat... )

It wears the same as my Aquaracer Caliber S, which was my daily wearer for a couple of years so I don't even notice - my Monaco is much lighter by comparison, almost to the point of being irritating - almost, but not quite...

I like the heftiness of my Breitling watches. Never liked the light weight feeling of titanium cause it felt cheap on my wrist. Used to think my Navitimer on bracelet was just right, but then put on my approx 225gram (half a pound) Crosswind Special, and it does feel heavy at times, but I like it.

I agree with Driver8, since Breitling bracelets have the micro adjustment at the clasp, they are comfortable when properly sized. In contrast, my IWC aquatimer, which is similar in weight to my Breitlings but doesn't have a micro adjustment, can become uncomfortable if my wrist gets cold and the watch become loose.

I agree. I like the weight, but only when adjusted properly so it is not flopping around on the wrist.
