I came very close to buying a black/white dial face CSO but decided on the Bentley GT when holding them side to side at my nearby AD. Price was not a consideration. But the CSO is a great watch sure to please.

I have also been looking at a CSO (along with a GT and a CMEv). I'm really struggling to make up my mind based on price factors and how I like each different watch. I've read about the jumping hands on the GT, are there any "flaws" on the other two watches that I should possibly be concerned about?

Sorry for being misunderstandable, reply was in the "subject": watch is 2.990 Euro in Germany on ProII. bracelet. Used to be 3.150 Euro but all Breitlings (and maybe all swiss watches???) went down a bit because of the very strong Euro. All in all, somewhere around 3.000 Euro.
Hope this helps! Regards: Robertus

Dunno :( usually watch prices are (or were?) higher in the States but a larger discount can be reached, I mean every swiss watch, not specially Breitling. BTW having both the CSO and the little brother of the EVO (Chrono Cockpit) I can say that the CSO is NOT an entry level chrono, it's a great value.
Enjoy! Best regards: Robertus

Price is US$4160. Far from cheap, which is why I find the "entry level" thing kind of funny.

There is a good choice of phrases in German to distinguish: billig or preiswert. In English it is something like cheap or inexpensive, or better say sg like best buy, or even better sg like bang for the buck, if I'm correct (I'm not a native English...) so the CSO is far for being cheap but regarding price/quality ratio it is a great bang for the buck. Price/quality ratio is far the best among Breitlings Valjoux 7750 based chronos.
Others may think differently, so only my USD .02...

Zidane,

There is nothing "cheap" or "inferior" about the Superocean
Chrono. I was going to buy one as my first Breitling, but my
wrist was too big (the watch was not too small!) so I bought
an Evo instead. The SOC is a true thoroughbred; it's just built
along more modest lines. On a normal-sized wrist it looks most
elegant. :)

Agreed $4100 is far from cheap, but I guess that's relative...
I think it's just a matter of taste, because I was going to do a Chronomat, but saw the Chrono SO and fell in love. Also, I have a smaller wrist so it's a good fit; the larger watches take up my entire wrist... If I had to consider any Breitling introductory I would say the Quartz based models, but every model is distinct and a quality build period.
*I'm a newb, but I at least know that.*

For me he problem with the CSO is it's just a bit too small these days.

But I do love the silver face with Blue sub dials, no other Breitling has that combo.

If Breitling ever bring out Skyland sized watch with silver face and blue sub dials I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Interesting topic, as i just bought a silver dialed SOC. I had one of these last year in black and sold it... why did I sell it? Because I hang out on the forums too much and have been told over and over again that 42mm is too small :) At the time, I agreed. But as I have bought and flipped dozens of watches, I began to realize that 42mm is only small on the forums, but in the "real world" 42mm is still plenty big and bigger than the majority of watches you see on other people. The end result is I now choose my watches based on overall appearance and focus less on the size, as long as they look good on my wrist. Dropping the size stigma has allowed me to experience many fantastic watches like the Tag Aquagraph and MKii Stingray, that I wouldn't have bought due to the 42mm size.

For me, there are several features that I desire to have in a Breitling...
1) Applied wings on the dial
2) "B" on the tail of the sweep hand.
3) Polished surfaces because lings have such a silky feel to them when polished.
4) Textured Dial

The bonus features are the day/date (which I like and use), contrasting subdials, and in my opinion, I have a watch that is as close to perfect as I know. This is a strong candidate for the "only watch" question. You know the one that gets asked all the time... "if you could only own one watch, what would it be". Thanks to the SOC, I think I have the answer. Perfectly wearable size, beautiful, elegant and sporty for dress or casual, simply a spectacular watch and in my opinion, the best value in the Breitling line, especially when you factor in the unbelievably low cost when the pop up used on the forums.

Funny, but there is no real answer here "per se", there are only personal tastes and opinions. First, size is certainly a preference. Bigger is not better just more preferred by some and then not so much by others (fewer as they may be).

Second, there is nothing at all cheap with any of the Breitling product lines. Any watch more than $1,000 (some might say more than $200) is not cheap. MarkJnk says it well in that there are specific things he likes/prefers. All the Breitlings are well designed, high quality, and yes, expensive watches. We obviously all the like them; some styles more than others, and some less. When it came down to my choice, the Chrono Colt II, I might be shunned by some, and even though I liked the CSO a little more, I just could not see myself spending another $1,000. But, hey if you got it and want it, by all means go for it. I have said this before on previous posts and I will say it again: "To each his own". :D

I totally agree with this post........, apart from where you say you might be shunned by some. I don't think you'll find that on this site. I think one of the great things about this forum is that everyone here recognises that ALL Breitlings are great watches. No-one looks down their nose at the slightly less expensive models. Sure, everyone has their own preferences, but it takes an informed bunch of people to appreciate that all Breitlings have their own special merits and that which model peopel go for is a completely personal decision.
