Interesting, thanks, Ron. Just a bit more about it--is the purpose just to keep the case back from directly resting on the wrist? How does that end up feeling for you, does the bund pad end up being a physical irritant by itself?

Hi, Chris. Actually, the Bund pad seems to increase the wearing comfort somewhat, at least for me it does. It is not a physical irritant at all, quite the opposite in my opinion. You are likely aware that some watches, notably my B-1, do not have flat casebacks and sometimes those style casebacks (very slightly protruding "turbine wheel" on the caseback of the B-1) may become annoying when kitted with a strap worn fairly tight on the wrist. The Bund pad eliminates the annoyance completely. It's not an issue with a bracelet because it is worn slightly loose on the wrist and the caseback isn't noticeable. The increased wearing height obviously slightly increases risk of banging the watch on a door frame but only by two or three millimeters. I also happen to like the higher "sit" on the wrist as it seems more assertive in appearance to me. I consider it a military/aviation look. I know many do not like the Bund pads at all. My late wife certainly disliked them. Said they make a nice watch look like a "kids watch". Just for that statement I once kitted a camouflage Bund pad with my granddaughter's Callistino and the little one wore it for fun. Grammy asked her to take it off and the request was honored. Of course I defiantly continued wearing mine... There are some Bund straps which use riveted keepers for springbars which means that if a springbar were to break under rigorous wearing conditions (military), the watch will remain on the wrist eliminating damage or loss. Try one sometime and form your own opinion.

Hi, Rene'. Good to see you here also! Thanks for the compliment on the pics. As for the little rocks, you already know wifey gave that to me for my 60th BD in 2007. I guess I'm old enough now to wear them without embarrassment. Heck, I've grown to love them and certainly appreciate them a lot more now. I suspect you'll have a new found appreciation for them as well when you reach my age...

Interesting, Ron. My Airwolf has the same turbine wheel back, so I did assume the purpose of the pad was something like that. The turbine doesn't bother me too much personally, but maybe I'll check out the pad sometime.

Sounds good. If you do decide to try one let me know and I'll give you a good source for the one shown below. The strap and pad are black buffalo grain leather and the kit is hand made in Italy. The kit strap itself is actually a "long" so it works well with the pad even on a larger wrist. My wrist is 7 3/4" and the length is fine for me. I do sometimes like to use an OEM Breitling strap or a "Sectime" VIP croco strap (like the orange one in the post above) with the pad because those straps are thickly padded which is necessary to fill the void in the pad loops adequately. A "long" OEM strap does work better with the pad as opposed to the "VIP" aftermarket straps which utilize the last hole available when the pad is kitted with them. Obviously if your wrist is 7 1/2" or less the standard length strap is fine. Give it a shot, Chris. I bet your Airwolf would be even more of a stunner kitted like this...
