Not if they use e-ink as Fred pointed out.
E-ink technology is bistable which means that the image will remain on the screen even in the absence of any power source.
The only time power is needed is when the image needs to be changed which I guess will be supplied by the gizmo that Breitling equips the ADs with.

Interesting. Didn't realize e-ink was "power-less". Thanks!

At Breitling they told me that it keeps power for over 15 years. The guy couldn't tell me if there is a battery in the card or whatever, he just knew it lasts minimum 15 years... After that time, a duplicate can be obtained through Breitling in return of the old one off course.

It sure is, and it is pretty cool. Only problem is if the screen gets pressed down to hard it creates a liquid crystal "sun" effect with the ink. Not sure what happens if the screen gets one if these.

I thought I would share updated information with everyone here after talking to BUSA.
So my screen was pressed in two places created a washed out yellow mark blocking part of the data on it. BUSA informed me all I need to do is take the electronic card back to an AD with my certificate that has the microchip on it. They can simply re-scan the cert/chip onto the card which will reset the screen appearance. BUSA told me don't worry about effecting your warranty or registration process because that can only be done once. This reset only fixes the screens appearance.
Easy enough :)
Hope this helps anyone else freaking out after messing up their 20 hour old Ling warranty ;)

I bought my new SuperOcean 44 last weekend and it came with this new warranty card. I was definitely impressed with the new warranty card as it was unexpected.

The display is rather pressure sensitive. Had accidently to much pressure on mine and now I have a yellow stain in the Centre which is there to stay.

I have a light "fingerprint" in my warranty as well. Everyone please handle these with care!

It's not there to stay... Read my post a few messages up. It can easily be re-scanned and the yellow mark will be cleared electronically.

Did they perform this action free of charge?

I don't understand why they need to scan the RFID on the certificate. As far as I can tell there's not much information on it, only model number and type.

What about serial number, AD name and warranty period or is there information missing on the RFID on my certificate?

Glad to hear this.

It is going to be a little harder for me to visit my AD. I will have to send it to Goveburg to have them reset it. It will have to be on my dime because it is no fault of theirs that the mark shows.
