Hello Breitling lovers!

I bought a Breitling for my husband. It was in a store in the airport where they sell Omega, Tag Haeur etc. They had a Breitling for sale with 20% discount.

What I just received is a leather box. Without any papers. I ask them if I get international garantee with the received. The answer was yes. Also they told me to find the certificate and the box for me the next week
I thought it's a store with beautiful watches. I always thought a store that sells watches, it's better then to buy online (because I'm afraid that I get a fake).

When I gave the present to my husband, we realized there was something wrong with the watch. There was little marks and scratches on the front. It seems used. My husband ask me if there's a certificate. I told him: No but they will find it for me.

Then I went back to the store and told them there's scratches in the watch. I ask them for the certificate but they told me this: We don't have the certificate and you can't have the certificate because you bought it for 20% discount.

When I brought the Watch Next day, they accusing me that I made the scratches by meself, everywhere on the wristband were marks. I feel really bad about how they treat me as customer. They were not nice and I can't even get my money back or change for something else.

I just don't know what to do. I feel helpless. I get blamed for scratches. So I went to a Breitling Dealer in town.

I told him the whole story. He was very proffesional. He knows the store and say: they don't sell Breitling for 4-5 years. Your Breitling is vintage and it's 4-5 years old (perhaps older). It's in good state, but without certificate, is it not worth to call a watch.
You pay also for the service, that's is only what you can get with the certificate.
Because by law, a store has to give you certificate. Because it could be also a fake one. (but he smiles and says: but I see it's a real one). Even if it's 20% on discount, even if there's scratches. A store has to give you a certificate. Or else you can't have international garantee. If they don't have it you can return it where you bought it.

Me and my husband traveling alot, I see this very problematic!

I went back to the store and told them that I want my certificate. The store was acting strange friendly, ask my name and my phonenumber and they call me back.

They didn't do that!

It's 8 days further. Still very annoyed. It seems they don't care. I don't know what to do.

Via connections I have the phonenumber of the HQ. We going to call them today.

Sorry my English is not that great. But I hope you can understand. Ever been in this situation before?

Yours, heartstone

I would return it - hopefully you used a credit card. If they refuse to take it back, you can dispute the charge with your credit card bank and they will initiate a chargeback. You will need to fill out a form detailing the process and the merchant's misrepresentation.
It's clear that they can't supply correct papers even though they said they could. No papers, plus damaged, means no sale to me.

Sounds like it's a grey market (non authorised) and / or secondary market (used) store. Wither way you didn't get what you expected so definitely would push for a refund and buy what you expected. Without knowing exactly where you are, 20% off is likely not that much better than you can get from an authorised dealer anyway.

Definitely fight the charge on your credit card stating misrepresentation, that is probably all you can do at this point unfortunately.

I doubt this guy is an AD... Too bad things like this happen. He should have specified it is a used model that comes without papers. Hopefully everything works out good for you. Good luck!!

I would definitely be asking for a full refund and maybe even threaten legal action if not. Also reporting to the Better Business Bureau wouldn't hurt either.

If I'm reading the post correctly, she bought from an ex-AD which still had NOS in, which is what it sounds like she bought.

As the others have said, push for a refund, involve your credit card company and government department of fair trading if needed.

Not sure if he is an ex-AD... If he was, he would have had the certificates.

Hi everyone, tommorow i get my warranty card from the store. We going to keep the watch because we still find it very beautiful. Its an ocean colt from 4-5 years ago. Few days ago the breitling dealer told me its a beautiful watch, the price is fair and he saw it's not being worn. Me and my husband going to make the wristband smaller and polish it. I'm so happy. Is there anything Ihave to watch out or to worry? Let me know.

As long as you get properly filled out and Authorized Dealer stamped warranty booklet with your husband watch's matching model and serial numbers, no, you don't have much else to worry about.
Especially that you both like the watch and would like to keep it from the sounds of it.

Be interesting to see if that happens, as I'd inferred that this was not an AD.

If possible, could you post a pic of the documents and the watch because this is a very strange situation. All of a sudden they do have the certificates even though they said they hadn't... That was the "reason" for the 20% off wasn't it.

I would be worried that this is a retailer warranty rather than a Breitling official warranty - very big difference. Definitely post some pictures of what you actually receive.

Hi all,

The HQ of that company told me they contacted Breitling for the certificate. I guess I get an official warranty.

They know the serial number and my name.

I googled how the official warranty looks like, so I'm prepared. I also made a picture of the serial number, I hope it'll match.

I am kinda nervous because I cried because they blame me and were acting mad to me :(

I was also kinda stupid to buy it immediatly. My trust to buy a watch is because it's a real nice store with beautiful watches. i thought nothing can't go wrong... But I guess you have weird people/companies everywhere. I learn from this mistake.

Is just terrible that you can't trust anyone, even from a nice looking store where they sell watches daily. Many people come in and by...

But I don't like to create drama so I'm happy that we found an oppertunity.

I will post the pictures tommorow!

PS: Wim, the company where I bought Breitling was an ex AD. That's what the Breitling Dealer in town said. They know the people, and they know they don't sell breitling for 4-5 years. I don't know how old the Breitling is. I can post a picture tommorow.

You from Belgium right? I am Dutch, but I live in another country. :)
