My opinion:

Caseback 'Breitling' looks stamped correctly, ref and serial in line with expectation
Dial , Hands , case show untampered patina in line with age and unmolested

Fred ,
sadly no movement shot

Wayne ,
IMO there are enough differences between this piece and the crap pieces to call one genuine and others 'fake'

Movement shot would have been nice, but nothing wrong that I see and if it's a trusted seller then should be good to go.

Tomwak won't be commenting on this thread so if it drags someone else in then we'll know the new user ID won't we!

Oh I agree!! I really am on board on it. This is a find. A rare one and a lucky owner. No comparison.

Glad on the Tomwak, I was just waiting for some POS thing to pop up and him say, "this is a real Datora"!!

As I have written in the other thread: I have exactly this one. Back is similar, dial also (my one has a Datora and 17-jewels sign, maybe faded at this one?). Hands are different.

I'm pretty sure that Cal 11's Datora is marked "244 94," which is the designation shown in the 1952 catalog for a watch that has the same dial layout and advance buttons that match. Manual wind, moonphase with calendar.

I confuse easily, but I have it my mind that the "26" designation was for automatic-wind watches with date. "28" is for automatic-wind watches with moonphase and calendar. In other words, there is a numbering system that doesn't match "244/26" or "244-26."

Maybe I just don't understand the system.

I will, when I'm back from my Bavarian Indian Summer - holidays ;)

PS: Bill, I have exactly this one : 244--26, Valjoux 89, handwound. I think, we're think more about refs, as Breitling - employees have done it in the past.

I hope you are enjoying your holiday and not being distracted by us. It would be good for you to tell us from where and whom you acquired your 244. That part of the story always seems to be very interesting. Collecting isn't much fun if we can't get a bit of the history.

Thank you, I will. I've bought this watch a few years ago from a older collector, which has owned this piece for more than 20 years. My watch is in good condition, especially the dial.

Hello,

here's my datora 244-96. Sorry for the delay, I had to go to my bank first... These pictures were made with my smartphone, so don't expect Dracha-quality

Mr. März has currently also a 244-96. His one has a "/" instead my "--" between the ref on the caseback. I think, a explanation could be, that different employees are using the stamp with the "--" in different directions...
His one has also different hands
