I am new to the forum. I'm looking to buy a Chronomat 769 or 808 - my first vintage Breitling.

My question is: what is a good price for these watches in good or fair condition?

I understand that there are many variables to consider, but I'm just looking for a ball park figure.

Thanks

Welcome to the Forum. If you have not done so far, why not introduce yourself to the members in Introductions and say hello to everyone. They are a friendly lot here and you can tell everyone about your experiences with Breitling so far.

Your question is a good one, but it depends on a lot of variables. Your best bet is to have a look at some of the higher turnover sales sites where you might find some 769s for sale and probably less 808s. Well, thats been my experience anyway. You should get a good idea of what the market rate is for a decent one from there.

If you are looking for advice on what to look out for when buying, then there are some good pointers on the main page of this forum. You will also find threads here by searching the topic, that might assist you in what to look for and what to accept in these classic vintage watch types.

Look forward to your contributions.

Location: Vienna, Austria
rough, very rough ranges; considering decent to good original condition.
prices are sales prices, not BIN asking; (€/$)

769 SS: 1.5-2.5k
769 18k: 3.5-4.5k

808 SS/GP (bring similar results, atypically) 1.5-2k
808 18k are very rare, last sales I saw were around 5k

boxes, papers would be additional, very rare black 808 dials might go a bit higher.

ALWAYS factor in servicing costs if you are not buying the watch from a very trusted source who confirms recent service.
