I would love to know the thought process that went into thinking that printing the dial upside down to combine date window and subdial was a good idea - truly bizarre!

Well you learn something new every day - they're just weird even when they aren't turned into Breitlings!

This dial design is typical from 1979-1981 last Heuer " made in France" versions, subcontracted production based on a Monnin case + Valjoux 7765 .
I personnaly have 2 versions of those : reference 1611

and reference 1614

DSCF4919.JPG

They are not pure marvels but typical from this period and basically honest products , despite the quality is equivalent to Yema and obviously lower than Breitling of the same period ... The best known version is the "Champion" ref 1614 issued as a promotional watch for Champion spark plugs in the USA - see 'on the dash"
As they were issued under many obscure brands and no brand dials were widely produced and still available under several colours combinations , obviously it fosters creativeness of some poor minded guys , and it can give this awful Willy's nightmare.
